Here is the template.

What do you need?
- Philip screw driver.
- Slot screw driver.
- 10mm socket and ratchet.
- 3 feet of gutter guard. You could get a whole roll for $2.47. I prefer the thinner type because it's easier to work with.
- A strong pair of scissors which I forgot to include in the pic.

First, pop the hood and remove these bolts with 10mm socket.

Use a flat head screw driver to press down the tab on upper side of these latches.Carefully pull out the whole piece and set it on something soft (rags, carpet, ect.) so you dont get the outter trim scratched.

Remove all the screws on the back of the piece except for those that hold the "wing".

Cut 3 ft of gutter guard and set it on top of the grill piece. Try to align it careful so that it would cover the entire grill piece.

Put the Acura symbol back and keep it in place with 2 screws. Dont tighten the screws all the way. We'll need to adjust the screen later.

Cut the extra mesh with a strong pair of scissors leaving about 1/4in bigger than the grill piece. Be careful with the mesh edge, it's sharp.
Be sure that you dont cut the mesh much bigger than the piece or not big enough. Bigger=problem with fitting the outter trim back. Not big enough=the mesh will not be held in place tightly by the outter trim.

Put the outter trim back on and secure it with the screws that you removed earlier.

Put the whole piece back and secure it the nuts that you removed earlier.

Done.
Part cost $3.00
Labor 30-60min
The good feeling seeing your DIY (do-it-yourself) job: Priceless

NOTE: if you wanna paint the mesh, do all the steps first so you can fit the mesh back easily after you paint it. Then remove the mesh and paint. That way you wont get your new paint job scratched while trying to fit the mesh on the piece.

Next weekend project.

Adding 2 amps to the existing Bose system. If y'all are interested, I'll do a template.

Someone wanna give instruction for doing this to the hole in between the road lamps? Or even the roadlamp holes if you take the lamps out?

Can you remove the polished part behind the mesh...that long piece on either side of the Acura symbol? Since I would like to use black mesh, I don't want to see any polished parts behind the mesh...I want to have it totally black behind the mesh.

Is it just me or does the Blose system need more than just two extra amps? Like maybe two subs, two better 6x9s, etc.

Btw, nice job with the grille!

You can remove it. Just take out the screws on the middle horizontal bar. I dont know if it will look good or not because the "wing" is very thick. Remove it and you'll know what I mean.

I would check with an Acura dealer to see if they have the "wing" available for cheap. If yes, buy an extra piece and paint the current one black.

I wouldn't worry about rust.
1. The mesh is made of aluminum.
2. If it rusts, I'll redo it. The whole process doesnt take long. I took the mesh out to do the template and put it back in less than 30min.
3. If you are still worried, you can paint it.

I'd like the amp install if you can get that in. Great job! I was thinking about doing that in the lower part of the bumper.

I cut and installed the mesh grill from the same stuff a couple weeks ago. Here's a pic:

http://www.2carlsons.net/car/cls/H4mm3rm4n/Grill1.jpg

Overall, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the result. I thought the grill material was a bit too shiny, so I disassembled it and spray painted it a gun-metal dark grey. After that the grill itself looked better, but then the black wing support really stood out behind the grill (I had already removed the chrome wing).

My $.02: I think no matter what color the Gutter Guard is (painted or otherwise) that the whole front grill won't look trick unless the black wing and smaller black supports are hacksawed out. The only piece I would leave is the centerpiece necessary to hold the Acura emblem.

I didn't have the guts to try this, so I returned my grill to the factory look.

H4,

That looks pretty sweet. I think the black grill would look good on a black car, if the silver shit doesnt show up in the back.

Thanks, dude. It actually looks better in that picture than any other.

When you look at it from a closer viewpoint the black wing reflects the light and mucks up the whole look. It might help if it was spray painted the same color as the mesh.

Thanks for all the templates silverknight. Ill be sure to try it tomorrow. Can you take the back black piece off completely so nothing will be showing? Also can you please give me some tips on how i can secure the grille as far as putting it on the bottom bumper. I want to coverup the very botttom of the bumper but no clue how to make the grille secured. Is it better to cut the grille to the exact hsape of the whole or to place it and bend it in? ANy suggestions would help. Thanks alot.

Yah, the chain mail look similar to the IS300
grill makes it look flimsy, not a really solid and "built" feel to it.

Anyone know of a place I can buy this stuff online? I checked at all the local Home Depots but they don't have the stuff. Don't really need gutter guards in SoCal.

The black center piece is part of the whole piece. If you have the gut, hack saw it out. If you really do it, you should use the thicker mesh so it can stay firmer. Also it need to be strong to hold the Acura emblem if you wanna put it on. I would check with the dealer or junkyard to buy a reserve grill before hacksaw it out.
About the bottom of the bumper, same thing, use the thicker mesh, because the one that I use, it's too thin. Good luck.

SilverKnight, how did you get it to fit with one piece. Im down the the last setp to just cut out the mesh to fit it perfectly, but the 6 inches is not tall enough since the thing is curved. I can get either one side and the middle covered, but not the other side. or i can just not have the middel covered fully. Im using hte exactly materials you have posted...

DUDE!
Just snip two holes out for the Acura sign Jeesh your rough!
Now try to fit it best and stretch out the wire using a tool or something like pliars. I got it to fit barely but it fits!

Just be careful with the Acura symbol, cut one or two wires of the mesh if neccessary.

About the width of the mesh, pull and stretch it. I did mine with just 1 piece.
Be careful though, the edge is sharp, dont cut yourself.

I'd prefer to buy one and bolt it on than to get out the wire cutters and other tools :-)
