HELP! Removing window tint?
I didn't want to hijack a similar thread regarding tinting, so I am starting my own....
I had a horrible job done on my tints when I tried to patronize a local shop. MISTAKE!
They took 3 HOURS to get the job done, and even though they used great materials, the MO-ron that did the job f***ed it up BAD. I have to take it back to replace the back window, driver's side front and pass side rear.
Do I take it back to the same shop and hope they don't screw up REMOVING the tint and worry about another bad job installing, or do I take it to a reputable place and have them do it all? I am really worried about them messing up the back window contacts and antenna. Is it difficult to remove tinting? Do they have to scrape it off?
I would only be losing about $100, and the money was never the issue. I just wanted to give a local new place a chance. But if I go to a dealer, they won;t go lower than 38% or something like that, and here in South Florida, that is pretty weak for someone with a black interior.
The guy was like, don't worry, wait 10 - 15 days and all of those mistakes will be gone!
But guess what, its been three weeks and they still suck.
It really stinks that I have this ghetto tint job on a $30K car.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The shop I use they put black bags on the rear window on the inside then leave it out in the sun so the whole rear window gets nice & hot, then the tint just peels away. The side windows just peel off, & cleaned. I don't know of the shop you went to, however if you feel they don't do good work, I'd take the loss & get a pro shop to do it. The shop I use is in Boca.

Thanks, I feel a little better knowing that the removal should not be too bad.
One more quick question then, though:
You know how they spray all the sh** on the windows so they can position the tint correctly, will have do you get that residue out of the high mounted tail lamp?
I don;t see how that can be removed to clean, but the stuff they use definitely left a stain when it evaporated, and you can see it from outside the car
AAARGH!
I really am pissed at these a-holes!

I now drive an accord....
That sux my guy just sprayed soapy water so when it evaportated it was fine. Im not sure, but if its really stuck on your window you might have to remove your rear deck to get good access to that part of the window

I think the first thing you should do is try and get your money back, then talk about the removal. I'm sure it's not that hard to remove the stuff. You could even probably do it yourself.

If your gonna remove the tint yourself, first heat up the outside of the window with a hair dryer of heat gun. This will make the adhesive nice and soft. If you do it just right, you can peel of the tint and the adhesive will come right off with the film, leading to almost no cleanup afterword.

The most noticeable mistakes are the creases in the tint noticeable from within the car. Out of the 12 or so on the front driver's window, the largets is about 12 inches long and actually runs left to right in the middle of the window. That one happens to be exactly within my line of sight when I turn to the left to look out the window.
Other than the creases, the pass rear quarter window's tint was cut to small and shows light through for about 3 inches on one side
The rear window has bubbles that have not disappeared after 3 weeks, and a hole in the tint they probably made with razor blade the idiot kept leaving in his hand as he was positioning the film. Also because our CLs have that band of texture on the top of the back window, the way the tint was trimmed is not even in a straight line, and looks like a 2yr old did it.
