Hey i just bought a sony cdx m800 head unit... it puts out 23.2 watts RMS x 4. Now I've herd that this fries the stock power wiring... if so what do I do to power this head unit?

By Degree I am a Electrical Engineer. I can tell you that 23.2 watts RMS x 4 will not fry any automotive wiring. Unless you for what ever reason have 32 AWG magnet wire in your car.

if you have the bose stock speakers that sony wont work without an adapter, and even then it will probably sound bad. bose = 2 ohms, sony = 4 ohms

You are right about needing an adaptor Beetroot, but...

Actually the problem is that the BOSE system uses its own amp for the speakers. And the amp is not true line level like 99.9% of the amps in the car audio world!!! The adaptor will make take that mismatch, and correct it. The amp is in the trunk behind the passenger side trim panel.

hey aztec- I thought the problem with the bose was the whole system ran 2 ohms, so if you install a new deck it wouldnt power the speakers correctly. assuming the deck is 4 ohm and you bypass the factory amp, what would it matter if the factory amp is line level or not if you didn't use it?
