Exclamation Help! MAINT REQ'D Light!

I started up my 3.2CL Type-S this morning (which is so bad ass, I love when it hits v-tech... so much faster than my old b16 civic!!!) I know ALLL about civics... you can check me out on honda-tech forums but the CL is nu to me so cause my civic didn't have a MAINT REQ'D light i'm not sure what's wrong.

Weel so the MAINT REq'D light is on so I'm thinking my oil is bad or something. Do I need to go t o the dealership (stealership, rofl) or something? I tried cleaning my air filter but the light is still on.

Oh and ne1 in the area ever wants to race lemmie know

Thumbs up Nothing to worry about.....

It depends on how many miles u have, all that light does is tell u when u need to service your car, I have a 99 3.0 CL and when the light turn to all red then its time to change your transmission fluid or something. Look in your ACURA book that came with the car, It will tell you what needs to be done and at what miles.

Now get back to work

Mine started to go off this past week...

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I have just hit 60K miles

Someone told me that I might be able to find something about it in the owners manual, but I'm too stupid to figure out how to open the glovebox... Please help !!

mine was on too, im approaching 90k...I changed my oil a couple of weeks before hand....maint. req'd light only goes on when OIL CHANGES are way past due, first it will blink a couple times, then eventually it will stay on...change oil, put key in ignition, hold "reset" and "trip" buttons at same time, turn key to ON position (dont start it) and hold buttons in for 10 sec.. presto

that's what one of my good friends at the "stealership" told me, saved me some rip off labor time...hope that helps

Steve, I've updated my signature... I wasn't going to do it, since I thought it was unappropriate for a mega mod to have that quote in his sig, but it just had to be done after this thread

Arrow The light really does mean Maint. Req.

That maint, Req. light is for way more than just changing Oil ! the Car needs belts and hoses checked and usally they change the transmission fluid or oil as well as the cabin filter, oil filter sparkplugs and so on, READ THE BOOK it will tell you what gets or needs to be done depending on mileage And if you hate the Dealership ripoffs, You can take your Acura to Pep Boys (or whatever) and tell them you need a 68k mile service and they will show you what all is done which depends on your mileage and is the same thing Acura and Honda Dealerships do but way cheaper .

More people need to venture out of the CL forums every once and awhile and hit up the offtopic forums (cartalk, autonews, ramblings, wash and wax, audio and video, dating and relationships, home and gardens, etc).

I talked to my mechanic, he said I could put a piece of electrical tape over it and everything would be ok.
