Help installing MOMO leather shift boot.
Help installing MOMO leather shift boot.
Have 2003 CLS Manual and wanted to know if anyone had some descent instructions on how to install a new shift boot. I put on a new MOMO shift knob (Race Aluminum Leather - looks amazing), but to my dismay the factory shift boot will not fit with the MOMO shift knob, since the factory shift boot and knob have a sort of male/femail type interface. So the new MOMO leather boot is needed, but I took apart the factory boot and see that it is stapled to the frame. That scares me. Anyone have experience installing boots on the 2003 CLS or any car for that matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry if this has already been asked/answered.
I just bought a Momo Crystal (Blue) and couldn't figure out how to detach the orginal knob from the boot. So the Momo still sitting here.
I easily pulled out the boot + knob + the frame (the type-S with 6 speed plate), there are 2 lock on the bottom , you can easily pop them out easily. Then unsrew the shift know (anti-clockwise) until you the whole assembly is completely detached from the shift rod.
But I don't want to cut the shifting boot inorder to take the knob out. Any suggestion?
