Help: Damaged CAI housing - any replacement ?

Hi!
The housing of the Comptech CAI in my CL-S 6SP was damaged in the accident.

There is no way I could put it together. The filter itself is fine.

I'm planning to use some plastic boxes, etc to "built" a new housing.

Yes. You might think it's not so good idea, but I'm that guy who bought
black 03 CL-S and shipped it to Europe.
I'm in Poland, so getting
new CAI designed for CL-S here is expensive.
I'm totally short of money after paying for transport, and EU and Polish taxes.
I have to play cheap on this

What bothers me is the shape of the original housing, which - I guess - was designed
to assure optimal flow of the air. I'm afraid that If I don't make another one properly I'll ruin the CAI's effect on performance.

If you think, there is no way to create some substitute I'll pass and use the original filter.

Also, "the sponge" in the CAI is dirty. I mean not greasy (it should be greasy), but dark and thick of dirt. The CAI has around 40k miles on it. Can I remove it, wash and put back ? I have a spray with a fluid/greaser/whatever, which I believe came with the CAI.

Hints are the most welcome.
TIA

so whats broken? just the plastic box that holds the filter? if so i thikn you will stil be safe to drive around, just that it'll probably be louder and you'll lose performance as you'll be sucking in warm air from the engine bay... i would contact comptech and ask them if they could ship out just the parts that are broken to you to poland.. prob take a week and a half but if im sure u can drive around if just that plastic box is broken.

good luck.

Or...instead of building a box, you can duct tape your original one.

Unfortunately I don't even have this original broken housing.

I'm thinking about ordering some Comptech "implants" but no sooner than next year.

Will try to create something by myself.

Still, how about the sponge in a filter. Is it safe to remove it, wash and put back in?
Don't want to broke the CAI.

Thanx
