Help, anyone
Help, anyone
Last night I was driving back home and I was stuck in traffic. I'm at a complete standstill when all of a sudden my 2001 cls starts reving up and trying to lurch forward. It seemed as though my accelerator was being pushed down, even though my foot was completely on the brake. It did it twice in a row. Before I could react and put it in neutral, I slammed into the car in front of me. Thank God the person in front of me was alright and my airbag did not go off. It scared the hell out of me. I have no idea what caused this. Has anyone heard of anything like this happening before? Now I'm faced with paying for the damage to the car in front of me and to my car. So, if anyone has any information, please send me a response. Any and all information is appreciated.
It could be a LOT of things.
Could be a bad Tranny.
Could be the return springs on the accelerator are broken or sticking.
Could be your carpet is stuck on the gas pedal.
Or it could be you’re a big liar and you just rear ended someone of your own fault.
If you’re at a standstill, you need to keep your foot on the brake relatively hard.
This car has a lot of unintended forward “drift” when the A/C compressor turns on/off.
I used to have an Auto before I traded for the 6-Speed and I hated that.

Thanks Shawn,
If I was not the one behind the wheel with my foot on the brake, I would probably not believe it myself. If it were negligence on my part, I would fess up. I have no problem accepting responsibility when I do something wrong. I actually tried to find a way that I could have done this. At a complete standstill, I could not make it rev as hard as it did when it lunged forward. I had trouble reaching over to the accelerator with my foot on the brake. The floor matt came to mind, but I did check and it was fine. I guess the next step is to call Acura and let them know. Timing is everything. It is scheduled to go into the shop tomorrow for the tranny recall. This is the only problem I have had with the car since I bought it. If you have any advise, I'm open to suggestions.

I'd get your car to the dealer ASAP. I've never read of the car revving like that on it's own and lurching forward.
As Shawn mentioned, when the A/C compressor kicks on the car has a habit of lurching forward, however, it's a small jump.... nothing like the problem you stated.
