Adventurist.
Looks good.
But I really like the Micro DE's, I have the driving DE's on my Jetta and they throw light well over a mile. Someone here has the foglamp version and they are really good looking. I forgot his name....

Go with the Micro DE, get some SuperWhite H1's or what ever color matches the HIDs once warmed-up. Too blue bulbs looks ricey cheap.
juve021 - Nice!! Did u make 'em?
Search Gutter-Guard from the early days.

The bulb you want is the H3, and the PIAA H3 55w Xtreme White lights are rated at 4000k and pretty much a perfect match for the stock HID's in color. This version supposedly gives off light like a 110 watt bulb. Problem is cost...I paid $80 at a local store, I've seen them a little cheaper online.
Don't get the Sylvania Silver Star, they still look yellow compared to the stock HID's.
Edit: those are not the PIAAs in the avatar, those are the Silver Stars

Very Nice I was thinking of doing something similar. Like the way you framed the fog with the mesh.

I am bringing this thread back to life!!!
Hey juve021, do you have a DIY write-up for these Hella Micro DE Fogs with custom grill? I have been doing a lot of research on converting my road lamps on my '01 CL to "true" fog lights. This seems to be the best way of doing this modification, instead of modifying the '03-'05 or '06-'07 Accord fog lights to fit in our bumper.
I have an Oracle 35w HID Kit - 20000K - H3 bulb size in my stock road lamps... I drilled two holes in the top of each road lamp to release heat, like how MrFluffy did. The heat from the HIDs caused these two holes to form one HUGE hole. Now I get water build-up in my road lamps every time I wash my whip or it rains I don't know how this worked for you MrFluffy. Thus, I need to do something with my road lamps and what could be better than projector fog lights!?
I have a few questions. Are the '03-'05 and '06-'07 OEM Accord fog lights non-projector fogs (http://store.me2motorsports.com/fog-...da-accord.html)? If they are not projector fogs, I assume I cannot install HIDs in them and that they have a reflective lens. I believe the fogs in the Accord's Hella Micro DE Fog Lamp Kit are projector fogs (http://www.yellowandbluelighting.com...5/Default.aspx). Since they are projectors and do not have a reflective lens, I should be able to install my 35w HIDs in them. Am I correct on this?
Here's a picture of my current grill- painted the entire grill white and installed stainless steel fine diamond mesh:
I am thinking of installing the stainless steel fine diamond mesh where my road lamps are and installing the Hella Micro DE Fog Lamp Kit (http://www.yellowandbluelighting.com...4/Default.aspx) in the center of each road lamp location, like what juve021 did. I am getting the Micro DE Halogen Kit instead of the Micro DE Xenon Kit since I already have an HID Kit and due to the fact that the Xenon Kit costs $563 more than the halogen kit. Will my 35w 20000K HIDs melt any part of the Micro DE Halogen Kit? I believe my HIDs will not melt the Micro DE Fogs since supposedly HID bulbs operate at a cooler temperature than halogen bulbs. I think my HID bulbs melted my road lamps due to the fact that interior lights (168 application), not halogen bulbs, come installed in the road lamps from the manufacturer.
What do you guys think of doing the fog light modification this way? Thanks in advance!

Are the fogs in the Hella Micro DE Fog Lamp Kit projector fogs? (http://www.yellowandbluelighting.com...4/Default.aspx) If they are projectors, then they will not have a reflective lens and should produce good light output. Since they come with H3 bulbs, I should be able to install my Oracle 35w HID Kit - 20000K - H3 bulb size in them without burning. Am I correct on this? Thanks!

What do you mean by the lenses are fluted? How would this diminish the output of the HIDs? With my current set-up (HIDs in stock road lamps) hardly any light hits the ground. They act like accents and I want "true" fog lights.

Look at the lenses, see the lines? Those are the flutes (i.e. - lense isn't clear). They disperse the halogen light effectively. They will diminish the light output on HIDs.
You can do it, but the light output wont be as good as using an actual projector. But if you plan on running 20000K lights, lightoutput is going to suck anyway.

One more thing to keep in mind, check the housing and make sure it is pretty durable (not plastic). HIDs generate heat and can melt alot of foglights.
Also, if your cutoff isnt as sharp as you want it to be, you should be able to remove the shield and make a new one. You can make is out of a soda can at first then make the final one with 1/8 aluminum. Theres no real science to it. Its mainly alot of guesswork involved. Just make sure you have the proper step that looks like this:

Thanks for the tips Civic! The projectors have very nice cut-off, you'll see when I get the pics for you. The housing is all metal so no issues with melting.
In case anyone is interested:

My only concern is the blue lens and how it will affect light output/color.

It may affect color slightly, but it shouldnt be too noticeable.

I am now ready to re-style my fog lights. I am still looking for a small housing I can mount in my fog lamp location. I originally planned on going with the Hella Micro DE Fog Lamp Kit [http://www.yellowandbluelighting.com...4/Default.aspx], but I am concerned how much the flutes will affect the HID light output. The Optilux Fog Lamp [http://www.hella.com/produktion/Opti...Model_1182.jsp] is also intriguing, but I am concerned how the blue lens will affect the light output since my HID kit is blue [20000K]. What do you guys think I should use for my housing?? Thanks in advance! To refresh your memory, below is a rough picture of how I want the end product to resemble:

Forget about the Optilux line - these are crap. Go with the upgraded version of the Micro DE's. Hella 50mm Module Personally I'd retrofit them into 01-02 lamps. I would have done this already but I don't wanna waste anymore money on this car Good luck though and post pics when done.
Best option would be bosch H3 mini projectors, but you can't buy them anymore.

The Bosches are pretty good.
If you want a good and cheap projector, get a set of Chevy Blazer foglights. The output coupled with an HID kit is surprisingly good.

It appears there are two versions of the upgraded Micro DE's: 1) Hella Micro DE Premium Halogen Fog Lights (http://tiny.cc/HellaMicroDEPremiumHalogenFogLights) for $185.90 and 2) Hella Micro DE Premium Xenon Driving Lights (http://tiny.cc/HellaMicroDEPremiumXenonDrivingLights) for $438.95. It appears the Hella Micro DE Premium Halogen Fog Lights also have flutes, thus forcing me to buy the Hella Micro DE Premium Xenon Driving Lights for the best light output for my HIDs. It just seems like a lot of money to spend to get good fog lights that also look good since I already spent $294.00 for my 20000K ORACLE 35w HID Kit – H3 Bulb Size.

"flutes" are also called fresnel lenses. if you go to www.hidplanet.com forums, a few people are running micro de's (fresnel lenses) with hid's, and the lense actually gives the beam a larger width as opposed to a clear lense.
the 'upgraded' micro de's are not upgraded in any way; they simply have the silver bezel, otherwise, they are the same. the xenon driving lights are the micro de xenon's, and are not fog lights.

^ And why did you spend nearly $300 on it?
#39
Instructor
I spent nearly $300 on the kit because I knew that Advanced Automotive Concepts' [AAC] Oracle HID kits are good quality. I bought a cheap (~$100) dual element HID kit for my Jeep and the high beams don't even work and one side likes to randomly cut-out. AAC's color scale is not like other companies' typical scale. My 10000K low beams look like 5000K (more white than blue hue) and my 20000K fogs look like 10000K (aqua blue). Both kits are very bright, I just want to re-style my fogs because the OEM road lamps do no justice for HIDs.

A DDM kit is $40 and has a lifetime warranty. Its good quality too.
