Heavy ticking from front, usually in cold weather
hey guys, i have a 2001 CL-S with 85,000 miles, and there is a loud ticking sound at idle that I can hear near the front driver's side wheel. it goes away when i rev the engine to 2000 rpm, and then after about 30 sec of idling, the ticking sound comes back.
Is this the PSV, purge solenoid valve or something? what does this thing do and is it really important to replace it?

Its the purge solenoid.

I thought my ticking was the purge solenoid, but the honda tech who did some work on my car last year, said it's the valves that need adjusting...
Since the purge valve is only 40 bucks, you can change that and hope that it solves the problem. If it doesn't it might be the valves...

Whats up with RDX owners?

I've got a ticking noise. Doesn't matter how hot or cold it is and it is rev dependant. I've changed purge solenoid and it didn't fix it. I hear the noise coming from it though, as well as the heads.

Then its most likely your valves. If you only hear it while at idle its most likely the Purge solenoid.
