Heavier shift knob, NS short shift kit, bushings.
In search of better shifting w/ the aid of search on this forum I started out w/ a 400g razo knob which shortened the height compared to the stock knob. The added weight also made the shifts more positive. Then I added the Neuspeed short shift kit and the length of the throws were shortened, but not as much as I think most would want - at least I wish they were less. And the NS kit increased the effort and notchiness of the throws. Lastly, the Corsport aluminum bushings were added and these made the throws light and precise...more like 'snick, snick' than 'row, row' feeling.
In summary, the heavier, lower shift knob was a good mod and the aluminum bushings should have come from the factory. The Neuspeed SS kit was the least impressive mod to me and if you do run it do yourself a favor and add the bushings. If I could only afford one mod it would be the bushings.
After all is this was done, I realize what a nice shifter Acura put in the CL-S in the first place. It took some effort to make it incrementally better.
If you do order the bushings get them direct from Corsports as I ordered from another vendor here and even after two calls to confirm which car I had, I got the wrong ones. The mod is not hard, but neither is it much fun getting to the three cable bracket hold down bolts to find that the bushings don't fit.

+1 on the bushings. Best 30 bucks I've spent on the car. I've got an S2k titanium shift knob, which is quite heavy, and a super secret short shifter and I love the way it feels. Even though Honda screws up some things, the shifter is always precise in their cars.

I know it says '01 to '03, but no worries as this is the one I ordered when I called. I just realized that the $35 price included free shipping along with it arriving in just 3 days.

That should be it. It seems that you have a different shift knob. Is it a weighted model? Interested to see your impressions of the bushings w/o a short shift kit.

When I used my other metal knob I used a washer instead of the endlink bushing under the boot and a rounded at the edges stainless steel washer on top of the boot and then screwed down the knob for a tight fit.
Hope that helps. And yes I got the check a while back.

I really like Momo for their awesome styles, ran them for years, but I've had 'em come loose several times. Even using threadlock on the three hex bolt fixing system did not keep them secure. Now I will only use threaded or self threading shift knobs. Maybe I'm too hard on my knob.

[QUOTE=monkeybutt;10447887]Alx, I am primitive so no pic. But as you have probably figured out the shift boot will fall away from the bottom of aftermarket knob...so I used a rubber bushing from a sway bar endlink, reamed out the hole so that it slides down to stop at the bend of the shift lever and slid the boot over it and then screwed down the knob for a tight fit.
Interesting but sounds like alot of work to get your boot to stay put. What I did to my shift boot was cut a 1 inch piece of vacuum hose, forget the size.. had to try a few first. Just pushed it down the shifter rod and had to twist up the boot cause it was a tight fit. Anyway hasn't budged since.
Also my skunk2 shift knob(see avatar) has a nice feel over stock and the tl knob I had for a while. Plus it has a locking nut that comes with it so coming loose is not a problem. I always had to re-tighten the three hex screws on my momo knob during my integra years very annoying.

Do you polish your knob or something? I've never had a problem.

Thanks CL6, I'll keep this in mind. My buddy runs one of the longest surviving speed shops in LA and is a direct distributor for Momo so I am often drooling over his showroom case.

here is a pic of my voodoo titanium knob.
I used the clip ring from a jdm integra shift boot. Just used a clip tie to attach the boot to the ring. I dremeled out the middle to fit the bottom of the shifter, then sanded and painted it flat black.
I used this doorstop(can find at most stores) to hold up the shift boot/ring to the shifter. i just dremeled the hole a little larger. i have these pics and more in my photo thread.
i think it turned out great, and shift boot never falls down.

I've searched my ass off for the neuspeed ss kit. Neuspeed ss kit is discontined. I got lucky, member was selling it a few months back and I jumped on the sale. The throws were shortened but the height still annoyed me. So I cut out a good 3" or so and welded it back together.
U can get a pspec ss kit but $200 is way to much imo

Have you replace the clutch line with a steel braided line and removed the dampening device yet? It'll improve the feel of the clutch pedal and improve the shift experience.

Looks nice. And I bet it helps with the hot days. Its painful driving my car on the really cold days, like last week when it was 16*. Mine looks like this:
