Headlight question?
Headlight question?
Damn dealer replaced my headlight housing beacause it was fogging up inside. I pick the car up and find out after I leave the light doesnt work. I go back and they put in a bulb. It lights up. Start my car up tonight and turn on the lights, I think they put a regular bulb in because the light is yellow compared to the other light. I hope not and this will change, but looks like another trip to the dealer
If you're talking about the HID bulbs... HID bulbs have a "break-in" period. NIB, they are very purple, blue. After a few days of use they turn white to yellow. GIve it a few days and see if it hold true.

Thats what I am saying
I wonder if they knew about when they put it in just to get me out out
Can you tell a difference between the bulbs?
when swapping HID bulbs, it's ideal to swap both at the same time so that you won't experience the different color-shifts. over time, HID bulbs will degrade in terms of brightness and also shift toward blue/purple. it's just how the bulbs are. the same happens when you switch only 1 halogen lamp. the newer one naturally will look brighter and whiter, while the older halogen will appear dimmer and yellower.
in this case, the newer HID bulb will appear whiter/yellower but brighter compared to the dimmer, bluer older bulb. you can either get two brand new stock d2r bulbs (4100k), or if you want to go blue, find some philips ultinons (6000k). the ultinons will look great but will already be about 25% dimmer than the 4100k bulbs to begin with. and remember, they will degrade as well and get dimmer and dimmer...

Thanks, just called the dealer and they said the replacement bulbs are a different color and to call Acura
, they then said to bring it in and they would change the other one to match. This new bulb is not the same as it was new
Is Acura replacing this with cheaper bulbs?

they should be replacing with new philips d2r bulbs. it'll take at least 50-100 hours of burn in to make them look more HID-white like. but even then, the two bulbs will never match. best is just get the other bulb swapped as well and let them both color-shift normally.
believe it or not, your lights weren't as blue as you thought they were originally. this is just how all OEM hid's are. if need be, go park next to a halogen car at night and you'll feel better about your lights.

my suggestion, get the replacemetn bulbs from the dealer, then swap them out for 6000k bulbs and you'll have a new set of 4300k bulbs for a spare set.
i have seen the data sheet from philips. the regular 4100k d2r/d2s puts out 3200lumens +/- 150. as the ultinons produce 2450, +/- 150.
they're still brighter than halogens but you'll definitely notice a big difference when driving with them in the rain.
