Headlight gasket problem..

Maybe Jens can answer this?

The little rubber gasket the runs along the top of my passanger headlight(contacts the hood) is falling off. Looks like the glue, or whatever holds it on is worn away. Dealer will replace it, but they need to replace the whole headlight housing. This rubber gasket doesn't come sepreate? It's stupid to replace the whole headlight for this. Not to mention it will be a PITA to remove the bumper, then have the lights re-adjusted, & I have to disconnect my fog lights. More of a chance for this dealer to break something else while doing it too. If it doesn't come sepreate what can I glue it back on with?

Nah the gasket is part of the headlight .But if it is busted they (acura) owe you a new one no argument there .Ideally the dealer should have no issues doing this .The headlights come preaimed believe it or not but I believe there is a good thread on how to aim them here in the FAQ section.Maybe a box of donuts in the morning for the mechanics might convince them to take care of your car better .Bribery is a bad thing but a little donut persuasion sometimes helps get things going your way .I know everytime a kindly soul brings food to our place everybody asks who it was and that person is usually God for the day .

Thanks again Jens!

I used the same silicone sealant for that other problem on the gasket & just glued it back. Looks good now.

I agree Ant but fuzzy is coincerned about his foglights installation .So I can fully understand his hesitancy in presenting his car to his dealer .Besides the silicone will do the job I am sure .
What dealer are you working for Ant ?
