Take out old bulb, put in new bulb.

j/k You need a special bit or attachment to remove the HID bulb. It's a star shaped attachment. Something like a T25 bit.

yeah, mine was REAL wierd. I had the Torx bit, but the actual bolt had a "dot" right in the middle, and the bit wasn't hollow. A pair of needle nose pliers did the trick though.

yesterday i cleared and painted my headlights, and had to take out the hid bulb. it is very difficult to take out, due to the star shaped nut thingy holdin it in. to get it out, it is required to use a tamper safe torx bit, a t25. howerer, i got very lucky with mine, and kept tryin and tryin cause i didnt want to spend the money and finally got it out using a small pair of needle nosed pliers. but if you cant get it out with that, then use the t25. they sell the kit at sears for like $50, part #00947258000. good luck with the hids.

From everything I hear, the bumper must come off. No way around it. Someone did a DYI thread awhile back that is pretty descriptive - pics and all. Do a search and see what you find.

I recently did my HIDs. You don't need to remove the bumper AT ALL!!!

The only thing you have to remove is the cover over the headlamps so you can get to the housings.

Aside from the T25 bit you don't need much else. Just make sure that you keep the clip that goes around the bulb in the same spot and that you put the bulb in (make sure you don't touch the surface...leaving oils on the glass can be bad), put the clip around it to hold it, then attach the connectors and voila!

Do note that the headlights will NOT come on unless you have both connectors on the back of the housing connected...

It's pretty simple...once you know what you're doing. It took me about 30 minutes total to do it the first time around.

I thought you had to remove the bumper to get the whole housing off. (To clear them)

yes you have to take off the bumper to remove the housing...but he just wants to change his bulbs....and NO you dont need to special torque star tool....just use a small pocket flathead srewdriver..put in the star next to the point in the middle and turn...simple as that. it should only take you 10 mins max. after i changed mine i didnt bother putting the covers back on. you dont really NEED them on there, and my little torque screws were rusted to shit anyways/

What kind of bulbs did you buy? What are they rated at? And how much did you pay?

Mine don't seem to be that bright anymore and I'm thinking it's because they are just worn as I drive with my lights on all the time because I feel it's safer. So I've been wanting to replace the bulbs, but paying $120/bulb from the dealer is crazy!
