Headers Installed!!
First off I just have to say... getting the old nuts off is a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!! It took 8 hours for the whole thing. I can't feel a significant gain in my butt dyno but we'll see about it when my ecu is done resetting.
Its hard to tell the gain of headers as its almost ggradual over the 3 day period where the ECU relearns.
But having driven a CL-S w/o headers, then again once the headers have been on for awhile, I will say the difference is night and day. The pull in the upper RPMs

The ECU reset finally! I chirped goin into 2nd gear! I tried using my friends Gtech but there wasn't a long enough straight without driving next to cop stations or driving more than 30 minutes away.

I installed it with 2 of my friends and I had to saw off some of the nuts for the ones under the car such as the nuts from the downpipe to the cat. I felt a difference right after i installed them but now it's totally night and day.

I used to be able to get a squeak (not really a chirp) out of third sometimes with the stock michelins on the right type of pavement with my 6spd
With the Yokohamas I can't do it anymore...
When I had a stock CLS 5AT I could get a chirp the 1-2 shift in SS mode. I then changed tires, added CT headers and an AEM intake, and with the ES 100s had such good traction that thre was no chirp on the shift.
Tires make a huge difference.
Headers add a lot, but it is only noticible at high RPM. Look at the dyno plots... gains are only significant at over 4000RPM. But the high end rush you get is unmistakable. After taking my headers off to transfer to my 6MT, the stock setup feels like an overweight chevy. I also drive a lot on the highway, and the gas mileage improvement was noticible.

Even though my car is in the shop for the engine swap, I am having my used CT headers carbon buildup cleaned by sand blasting and also chroming the front headers just so they don't keep rusting and getting discolored and ugly. There was also a crack in the weld of the rear header so they're gonna weld that up as well. Anybody chrome their headers? If so, how does it look after use? The guy told me they'll turn blue at the really hot points, but that's it?

I'm not sure about what it looks like after chroming but when I was changing my oil today I checked out my headers and they're already blue and purple other than the copper.
No ECU reset is needed for the power, that is a myth.
What some may feel in the 5AT is the adaptive shift function being less tame. If you drive aggressively the shifts are firmed and held on longer which is good with headers. But if you drive sedate for a while the shifts will become slower and at a lower RPM. When the ECU is reset it defaults back to no adaptation.
