Headers?
Hallo, i r noobz with many questions
headers, what are they? what is their function?
It attaches to your exhaust right?
Does it distribute the exhaust better or something?
Is there a 'professional' name for it?
I've looked at pictures of them, and all i can see is that they are shiny-er and bigger...
ty for your time, i love learning about cars and want to learn as much as possible.
Also more questions:
How much colder does cold air intake make the air?
What makes that hissing sound on a turbo?
What does the turbo take air from?

Wow, lots of questions.
Think of your engine as a big air pump. The more air you can pull through it the more power it makes. CAI, and headers will just help it breathe better. Thus pulling more air in and letting it out. Otherwords more power. Headers are just pipes with better flow than an OEM exhaust manifold. Same with the intake.
As far as a cold air intake, it does not make the air colder. All it does is pull air from outside the engine bay. Air in your engine bay is hot an not good for making power. Don't buy a short ram air intake, it only pulls in hot air. The cold air intake will pull the cooler outside air in, and flow better than OEM.
The turbo sound you're probably talking about is from the blow off valve when shifting or letting off the gas. It releases the pressure between the turbo and the intake manifold. It allows the turbo to stay spooled up. If it did not release the pressure then the pressure will slow the turbine.
The turbo pulls air from your intake. The turbo is powered from the exhaust pushing a turbine.
Try doing some research on "you tube" for videos that explain this type of stuff pretty good. Or try Streetfire.net

Whoa...hey Norman
Welcome to Acurazine.
Sounds like you got some real interest in the fundamentals of the engine modifications...I can def. respect that.
I agree with the others...do some research through the site first.
I learned so much from those FAQ's and from using the forum's SEARCH feature.
Headers are one of the most popular modifications and I'm certain you will uncover a ridiculous amount of information.
Use the search "filters" to help narrow down your search.
After you do some research...if something doesn't make sense or you still couldn't find your answer...post a follow-up question.
