i wish i could find a place that would install them for that cheap. i would probably have some by now. $150(xs headers)+ $44(shipping)+ $200(installed)= great price(a heck of a lot cheaper than CT headers). the people around here are saying around $400-$500. i cant see myself paying that much to get them installed. i will probably just take a weekend off and get out there and do it myself. yea i will loose some money from not working but i would have spent way more than i would have made.

I paid just under $400 for my install. It took 2 hours but of course they charged me what the book said and that was a 4 hour job.

Heat Wrap

Hmm, would it be safe to wrap these headers? Do they need to let heat escape...or could it possible damage them since they are cheap and thin? Would that eliminate the noise? I still have factory headers/cat and i hear an annoying raspy wooshing noise, it couldnt be any worse...my car only has 18,000 miles though, maybe its the cat. Can you wrap that flex pipe too? Anyone try doing this let me know im planning on doing mine soon and i want to do them right...

Well i bought a OEM gasket from honda and its not the same size! SSautochrome told me to basically pack sand! So my only other choice is to buy another set for the gasket and seel the rest of the stuff on EBAY. Its shitty but wat else is there to do

I just placed an order for 2 gaskets on Friday so I can install my Comptech headers.

Spoke with one of the mechanics I know there to see if he had any tips for doing the install. The only thing he recommended was putting a little bit of WD-40 on the self locking nuts before I try to loosen them from the exhaust manifold.

Other than that, he even said you don't need to torque them. Go figure.

There's got to be a source for the gasket...

Is this just a Donut type gasket ?? If so, Autozone or a muffler shop should be able to match one up with the one you have... donut gaskets are a pretty comment thing (do a google image search for donut gasket).

I ordered from the dealership. It was only after I ordered them that I realized I should have ordered them online at acuraoemparts.com

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

The gasket I ordered was the one that is part of the exhaust manifold, #3 in the picture above. Part #18115-P8E-A01

I'm not surprised he hasn't had much luck...i wanted to take the race header off of my K20 to put a stock RSX-S manifold on, and i couldn't find a donut gasket big enough for it anywhere...even at the big auto parts suppliers. That was a factory donut gasket, so i could have gotten one from acura. This situation worries me a bit. I don't want to get this header and get a crap gasket myself. MAYBE...cut out that flex pipe, weld in a pipe and an aftermarket cat and a good flange/gasket set at the end that will match up with the exhaust.

ACTUALLY, what is the diameters for this donut gasket? maybe the RSX factory one will fit, its pretty big...somebody let me know and i will try and see if they are same size.

I ordered those same gaskets (#3) as well as #9 from the Exhaust Pipe page for my XS headers. They haven't arrived yet so I'm not sure if they'll fit or not but I'm

wow i misunderstood, i thought this was a donut gasket, the thick kind that tapers in to the next pipe. i guess this is like a ring gasket. i'm surprised its onlly 2 inches big! there should be one that should fit that at an auto parts supplier. I hate gasket hunting! There are some big suppliers around here, i'll see if anyone has an aftermarket one so i can get a brand and part number for those who want to get a different one. What does the stock gasket look like? or is that the stock one? Do they look exactly the same except for the size? LMK

i'm guessing that that gasket is between 2 1/8 and 2 1/4 inches, according to my wheat thin scale, and assuming we both have the same size wheat thins, and that they are not the BIG ones...original recipie and not ranch or Basil flavor. I'm gonna see who carries similar ones, since i plan on doing this install in the near future and don't want similar issues and don't mind doing some searching for anyone who might be worried about the same problem. How about the manifold gaskets that come with the XS headers? Are they junk too? Are most of you using factory Gaskets? Also, where can you get good bolts for the headers? What thread/size/details? thanks...i'll post what i can find later tonight...

^^^ just get the oem bolts????

comptech says to just reuse the bolts that are on your factory headers for their headers, so why can't you do that with the XS headers?

I recall the gaskets for my CT headers being slightly different from the stock ones.

Go to your local muffler shop, they'll hook you up.

did you use the gaskets that comptech provided? (i'm refering to the donut gaskets as the comptechs do not come with exhaust manifold gaskets)

Those gaskets are called compression gaskets. I was able to buy them direct from Comptech in the past. I know they are going out, but try & call them & see if they have some.
I would think a good exhaust shop should have a supplier for these. They are not car specific just bring in the old 1 & see if they can get something that's the same size.

i found a very nice compression or crush gasket that is 2 1/8 for about 5$. I'll post some pictures later with part number. I got it at olympic auto parts...not sure if they are local only. Could someone measure the inside of the XS gasket?

I bought my headers used. I took the used comptech gaskets to the muffler shop and they matched them up for about $5.

wow i never really browsed through this whole thread im seeing its becoming a read pain to find these gaskets. anybody have this installed on their cl-p? i was going to pick up a set of headers this weekend but im rethinking it now, or is it to my understanding that just reuse oem gaskets and bolts should be fine? the shitty weldings not a problem i can get them rewelded and tested for leaks

guys, call comptech and order a few before they close. I have been talking to Nate every other day. I spoke with him yesterday. CALL AND GET A FEW BEFORE THEY CLSOE AND BE DONE WITH IT. It may take a couple of trys but you will get through. leave a message with the accounting dept. and Nate will call you back within 24 hr.

I am going to order mine today. Dumb question but when you place the order and the qty column says "1". Do they ship both sides or just the one?
