first, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY (don't ask me how I know that ), then disconnect the wire from the alternator there where it is getting in the way. This allows enough clearance to fit the socket straight on...

All you need is a swivel with a #12... OR I have a wrench that is curved... fits right there!

Nah, the bolts in the rear are easy to access. But getting the new header on over the studs is a different story. At least on the 6-Speed, the engine mount kinda gets in the way.

Well, I should have did a search first, but I found out the hard way! I forgot about disconnecting the battery and ZAAAAP! Good thing I had gloves on. The battery fuse is now blown. I hope no electronics or anything else is shorted. Did you have the same encounter? If so, was everything OK once the fuse was replaced? I hope the local auto parts store carries the fuse.

How did you access the rear bolts? I read that it is easier to access from the top driver side. Did you need a super long extension? The strut bar gets in the way so I can't reach down low to get to the bolts. Maybe I'll have to remove the strut bar. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I removed the rear bolts from underneath... you have to contort your arm in pretty funny ways to get it from the top... and it is a pain to have to remove the upper strut bar... so use a deep #12 socket with a 3/8" short ratches for the task.

I just took a look and the deep socket should work from unerneath. Thanks!

darrinb, what is the screwdriver for? Is it to pry out the nut from the socket after removing it? If so, I found that out from taking off the front. Thanks

I finally got everything off. I went underneath and used the 12mm deep socket. Hopefully the OBX headers will slip right on.
