Trunk Lid for 2003 Acura CL | Delray Acura Parts (acuraoemparts.com)
If so, it appears Acura still has them in stock?

the Acura dealerships seem to have the #10 & #11 (74871-S3M-A00ZZ & 74872 S3M-A00ZZ) but it's the black rods, not the grey. The black are for the trunks with wing/spoiler and are stronger to compensate for the weight. I removed my spoiler and the trunk flies up uncontrollably like it's going to take out my rear window. The spoiler only weighs 4# but it makes a difference.
I also own a '03 CL w/o spoiler and it has grey torsion rods. It opens properly matched to the lighter trunk lid..
That's why I'm in the search for the greys although I haven't picked up a part number for them yet.
I am going to our local Acura dealership again next week and see if they can get me that number

I just checked my two CL's:
My '03 CL-S six speed does not have a rear spoiler and it has the 'gray' springs from the factory.
My '03 CL-S automatic does have a rear spoiler and it has the 'black' springs from the factory.
The grays should be 74871-S3M-A00ZZ & 74872 S3M-A00ZZ.
The forum member below indicates, in post #46 above, that the 'heavy duty' black rear trunk springs is part #08F13-S3M-200R1, which are discontinued.
Search on that part number and it comes up discontinued.

went to Acura with the diagram of the two spring perches and they switched them to the "normal" (lighter tension) position. No real difference, the trunk still flies up violently. Thus, to me, this verifies that are really two types of torsion springs: one set for wing/spoiler & one set for non-spoiler (lighter trunk weight).
My other Acura CL w/o spoiler ('03) also confirms this to me as it has the gray rods and the '01 CL with spoiler has the black higher tension rods.
Two local Acura dealers parts dept. gave me the same number for spring replacement and they are the new ones we just put in (74872-S3M-A00ZZ & 74871...).
They do not show another available so I can only figure they have discontinued the non-spoiler springs and only have the high tension ones on their books. They have no answer.
My possible solution:
1) try and find a set of the "grays" from a salvage vehicle
2) add approx. 4# of weight to the trunk lid to mimic the spoiler weight. I might use 1# magnets if I can find them. I might use some heavy sound deadener material that I can fix to the underside and cover with the factory liner.
thanks for your help guys and any leads on those non-spoiler grays would be appreciated
btw, I have a near perfect TypeS spoiler available. Marina Red, from vehicle / 23,000 mi. Located in Austin Tx but could deliver on route to Chicago.

Have a spoiler and HD springs. They don’t do much other than keep it open. Pop the trunk and you can’t tell it’s open unless you pick it up. Wish it popped itself open for groceries.

That's exactly how mine is. Couple times I have had it open by accident and haven't noticed until I went over a speed bump. I assume it's because they're old and not the strongest anymore.

a shout out to Zeta as I went to Specialty Salvage and got their set of gray spring rods. This helped but to make the trunk open the way I wanted I also glued a 2# plate to the underside of the trunk to mimic the weight of the removed spoiler. It now pops open about 10 inches. Happy.
