Has anyone solved the warped rotor problem?

I have a 2003 CL-S 6speed 20,000 mi and the rotors are warped. Every Honda I've had...98 Ac 2.3 and 94 Honda coupe...has had the same problem. The dealer shaves them until they are out of warranty...then they replace them at my expense. You'd think they would have solved it by now. They have to know it's a problem. Has anyone out there come up with a solid replacement or a plan so this doesn't keep happening? It gets dangerous out there with them warped. Thanks

i know this may sound stupid but...what does it mean if the rotors are warped, and how do you know?

The front rotors tend to build up a lot of heat under heavy braking conditions. Like all other metal, too much heat causes it to bend. If it's really bad you can physically it in the rotors.

You'll easily be able to tell if you have warped rotors by the heavy pulsations you experience while braking.

Hope this helps......

thanks alot red...could u explain the heavy pulsations? Like for me, I got the brakes checked the other week and they said they were fine, 70/50 in the front & rear. However, at certain speeds, if i apply light pressure to the brakes, they like, I dunno how to explain it but you can really hear it as if its almost grinding, yet not. I dunno?

The pulsations you'll feel are like riding on brick rodes or cobblestone rodes in Philly. I noticed mine more at highway braking speeds, never anything at lower speeds.

I am sure you'd notice if you were getting pulsations in the wheel. Very bad wheel shaking, similar to when your wheel balance is off.

If you suspect, get someone else's car and drive it, brake at highway speeds and see if there is a difference.

I had my rotors cut and front pads replaced by the dealer at about 37k miles, under warranty. Some dealers seem to be more willing to do this at higher mileage, from what I read on the board.

Grinding sounds like the rotor might have a divit in it, or it was cut by somethng like a rock. Or it could be the pads that are gone....
