has anyone heard of a cl-s being stolen
or has anyone on hear have had their car stolen im just curios cuz they say that they cant hot wire our car cuz of the immobilizer in the key
#3
Yes, In NY. I already saw one stolen recovery. There is always a way. The immobilizer is use less if they rip out the ignition & then replace it. The ignition & the key match & the car starts. Say goodbye to your cls. Just watch out for a Type S civic or accord running around with all your parts.

Pro's only go for wanted cars. Our cars aren't really hot items like the Mustang, etc, which are high steal items. If there's no market for the stolen goods, the odds are great that our cars will be less stolen....by pros...joy riders are another story...

The story sorta plays like this; You
park your pride and joy in a lot or on the street thinking it is so safe. All systems in your car are armed. (yes even the immobilizer). Little ole flat bed tow truck comes along with a phat azz hook. The driver sees your ride, backs up, hooks, pulls it up, and off he goes. It is that quick!, I know because I have seen it done, twice, and lost one car already- a 97 GSR. I always park in a way in which the tow-boys can't get ya!

Alright listen up gang,
Park in the covered garages when at all possible. The tow-boys usally don't want to deal with the entrance and exiting due to security cameras and people in the booths. It's hard to pick cars in a tight place.
If you have to park in a lot, figure out where to park where a tow truck can't back in a pick you out of the space i.e. next to a conc. bollard, adjacent to a building with another row of cars close behind. Make it real difficult you see.
Last, if you have to park it on the street, park near banks, federal office buildings, post offices, they usally have CCTV and can watch over the block and your shit.
That is about it without wearing out the thread.

I agree with xenon7. If you can park it to make it difficult for the thief, do it. It may not guarantee it from being stolen, but I'm sure they will reconsider their options.

If they want it.... they will take it. I've heard stories of people that had their cars stolen out of their garage. Yes they had house and car alarms.

Hey mchtypes.. kinda off-topic but you have the 4.1L twin turbo already? I didn't know that? How is the stock tranny gonna handle all that power? How much to upgrade from the 3.5L 315hp to the twin turbo upgrade?? so what are the estimated specs for the 4.1L?? 1/4 mile? hp? torque? is the car heavier?

I think. I mean, for example, would you really want your CLS back after some junky
azz sucker crack head has taken it out and pushed it past all it's limits? I say notta.
But that is what happens to most, They end up finding the car and it's beat to shit. The insurance pays to have it fixed and now you drive around thinking the worst.

Just like I asked a couple of days ago. Was told by dealer that he knows of none because of our systems. And please no yadiya about flatbeds.
Your average punk joyrider ain't riding nothing bigger than a pair of Reebok at the moment.

Well, based on this thread, I sure wouldn't want to post a thread about how hard it is to steal my CLS on 7/27/01 and then find it gone on 8/03/01...
