Any luxury car is expensive to keep up. Everything costs more, just the nature of the game. Thats why Acuras are so great, they dont cost an arm and a leg.

When I bought my 528 it was 11 years old and 6 months later it needed major break work. So an 11 year old car needed 2 rebuilt calipers, 4, rotors and new pads:

the cost....$850.00 for an 11 year old car!!! And i had this work done by my mechanic and not the dealership ($$$$) When i had my prelude my mechanic replaced 2 calipers, 2 rotors and new pads for just under $200.00. Big difference.

Needless to say when i finally parted with my baby I was in shock what maintenance costs on my Accord after that were. I'd love to own a bimmer again at some point, but not right now.

any car will cost a lot to maintain. Im sure a new tranny and cost of install wouldnt be cheap once your warrenty is done with.

I know good amount of bmw owners right now with older cars.. and none seem to ever complain about maintance prices but then again most dont go to the Stealer to get the work done. Also thanks to the internet you can find cheap prices on most OEM bmw parts.

Yea the trunk is plain looking, but its better than it was and thats what i wanted. I didnt want to drop too much money on the looks of the trunk since many people dont even see it. But i will fix it up more with neon and sub grill or somthing soon.

In the almost four years of owning my E46 328i my maintenence costs totaled about $500.00 and all work was down a Global Import BMW in Atlanta.

Yes, costs may be higher for many standard items but from what I found, not so much more than other makes.

BTW Crazy, nice looking BMW. It makes me miss ours now that it is gone....

Jesal: The car looks great! At one year, how about some objectives about the 330ci (this is important) manual transmission (6 speed, I assume) car vs. the six speed CLS?

I ask this question because within days of buying my first 03 CLS6, my nephew bought a used 330ci AUTOMATIC, and we cross-tested drove both cars. The BMW auto was 225 hp, and the cls was, well, you know.

We both judged both cars really nice rides, but we both thought the CLS6 was at the very least, the value leader, similarly equipped.

The new CLS was 31,500 window, new, and the 330ci was one year old, and cost about $39,000 with 9,000 miles on the clock, but the car was unscratched, pretty. Please realize that at 25 years old, my nephew may not have been the "sharpest tool in the shed" when it comes to dealing with car stealers.

I also noticed you have a navi? How does yours work? My VP, who has a new G35, swears he has to input everything by joystick! I find that hard to believe, but as a new navi owner, I like to keep abreast of the technology.

I also seemed to think that the BMW control logic was kinda fuzzy, maybe a little confusing.

Whatcha think, you have owned both. Inquiring minds want to know.

well.

I recently drove my buddies modded 330ci AUTOMATIC, and honestly it shouldnt be compared to the manual 330ci. The two cars feel completely different and isnt worth to get a 330ci auto. IMO.

I owned my TL-S for a year as well. I was bored driving the TL-S after one year. But after owning the 330ci for a year, it still gives me enjoyment. It may be the fact that its a manual but the handling aspect of the car rocks!! The power from the 225hp is SMOOTH, you can tell the engine itself is refined. I wouldnt say its faster than my modded TL-S, but its not slower either. I would say its very close matched in the straight line. But like i said before, i didnt buy the bmw for straight line performance. If people remember i was trying to get my TL-S to handle like a bmw. But after all the mods, i gave up and went for the real thing. Stock 330ci is far much better of a handler than a modded Tl-S. And a modded 330ci... well you get it.

I always notice people say that the CLS has the same options as the 330ci for less. Well there are alot of little things that the 330ci has that the CLS doesnt. Most of which you wouldnt find in a test drive.

330 has a lot of small things that i use almost everyday like..
auto headlights

door sills

real leather seats

one touch windows up/down

one touch sunroof

computer which shows MPG and also how many left before fill up
once the tep outside goes below 37 degree, the comp will beep to watch for ice.

hold down the unlock button on the keyfob and all the windows open.

Put the key in the keyhold and lock the car doors and hold it and all the windows will close

Alarm has motion sensors... if the car is armed and you stick your hand int he car, the alarm will go off.

There is flashlight in the glove box.

3 year FREE maintance

You can change radio station on the steering wheel by holding up/down button longer to scan to next station rather than preset ones.

If you hit the 'counter reset button' with the ignition in position 2 (or very quickly when you start your car), then it will show you when you are due to change your brake fluid!

the key recharges while in the ignition switch so no need to worry about dead key fobs

auto leveling BI-Xenons

Speed sensitve radio

Theres more but well you get the idea... the 330ci is one big computer with a lot of cool features that may not be worth to some, but i have fun with them.

As far as the acura navi compared to the bmw navi... the BMW navi SUCKS! Acura navi is FAR much better, its faster and has more features into the navi. I have the CD-based navi but they did upgrade the 2003-2004 models with dvd based navis, but i dont think they can be much better. I miss my acura navi

I miss the sound of V-tec from the TL-S, it acutally made the car sound faster than it was. With Vanos its hard to hear it swtich over, so the butt dyno doesnt get the same effect as it would with vtec. maybe thats why the 330 FEELS slower to CLS owners when you take them for a test drives. But real numbers show the two cars are very close when it come to straight line numbers.

But seriously the two cars are different and shouldnt even be compared. And the price difference even shows that

Let the flames begin :o

I wasn’t aware of all those little “extras” that you mentioned.
I’m a “gadget guy” and would appreciate many of those you listed.

It’s too bad that BMW has the nerve to charge 36K for the base and then charge for stuff like Power Seats, Leather, Xenon lights, Sunroof, Heated Seats & more.

I didn't know about all those little details the Bimmer has either. I would love to have these:

one touch windows up/down

one touch sunroof

hold down the unlock button on the keyfob and all the windows open.

Put the key in the keyhold and lock the car doors and hold it and all the windows will close

Alarm has motion sensors... if the car is armed and you stick your hand int he car, the alarm will go off.

3 year FREE maintance

You can change radio station on the steering wheel by holding up/down button longer to scan to next station rather than preset ones.

auto leveling BI-Xenons

But when I bought my CL I didn't really even need auto climate control, leather seats, xenon headlights, or a sunroof. But now that I have all those, I don't think I'll be able to do without them in the future.

a couple more gadgets on the 7

coded drive away protection. - can't drive the car even if you steal the coded key if you don't put a 4 digit code in

timed vents - can set up to diff times when the car runs the vents. I have mine programed 10 min before I leave for work and 10 min after I get off work. always nice and cool/warm in the car

folding,auto dim outside mirrors

rain sensing windshield - esp usuful in the highway, when behind a car it'll speed up and when its just moderatly raining it will adjust.

tire pressure control-don't have to manually check it

convenience starting - put the key to position 3 and then release immedieatly , the car continues to move the key until the engine starts

lighted door handles - really cool @ night

infared reflect windshield - its really to reflect heat but it seems to absorbs radar signals , my escort 8500 and my friends v1 didn't seem to work when when it wasn't behind the cut out part testing infront of a kinko's which has automatic doors sharing K band

auto kick down feature , u press the gas all the way down , then u can then press it some more and it'll downshift

you can also fast forward a cd from the steering wheel

change the fan to circulate inside the car or auto circulate from the steering wheel. esp useful when I smell a skunk or bad exhust fumes.

the head rest is electronic and the upper part of the chair is adjustable for shoulders

and a couple other things :p but I really miss the touch screen and the dvd navi.

Again more gadgets that I like, but your car is not really a fair comparison when it comes to extra features since it was over DOUBLE the retail of the CL-S when it was new.

Nice BMW. Which Arcs do you have? How do they compare to other amps you've listened to/owned?

I have a 2100 CXL for my sub. I want to use it for my front channel, get something else for the sub (when I have the time to install components). I'm worried it might be too much power up front.
