Hand brake on 03 CLS-6

Is it self-adjusting?

I'm taking the CLS in for the recall tomorrow and would like to get it adjusted because it seems too high (near its upper limit) when holding the car on an incline.

So, is the adjuster (if any) malfunctioning or is it a regular service item?

It's not self adjusting. When you go in make sure they adjust it from the rear wheels, & not just the brake handle. If they do just the handle it will get loose again. Jens posted the instructions on how to adjust from the rear wheels. You could do it yourself. You can complain about it, & hope they will do it for free. Some guys have had the dealers bitch about doing it for free. It's also included in every dealer service(7.5K, 15K, 30K etc)

Yep, what Fuzzy said

I had my handbrake adjusted as part of my 15K service yesterday. Hopefully they did it right and adjusted in from the rear.
