you will. Can I make an assumption that you are in the NY metropolitan area?

article in the paper today said nissan is going to have to pay out money to maxima owners who had their headlights stolen cause they never disclosed to buyers the potential for the theft. don't know how much, but it's worth looking into if you are the original owner or bought used from the dealer

Yes it happens with any car that is known to have HIDs. I remember it was a big problem on th 99-2000 Porsche 911s because the ballasts were mounted to the back of the headlight housings and the whole system could be removed by prying the headlights out.

there is actually a recall for maximas to install a "anti-theft" system on headlights as there was a class action lawsuit filed against nissan. i would check into that if i were you.

You may still have the same problem. There is also no real anti-theft system for it. They can install a sensor on them, that's about it.

Yeah where in Miami?
It's still a problem on the Acura's. The Acura's are really easy to take.
I haven't heard much on it the last few years. It was a really big problem back in 01 & 02.

I've never heard of this being a problem on Akra's. That's strage. I've only heard of it on Q45's and Maxima's.

With that gen maxima when 2002-2003 maxima's were equipped with HID's as opposed to the 2000-2001 maximas with regular headlights (im not 100% about the exact years but you probably know what i'm speaking of.) That artifical demand from non HID max owners created a demand amongst vandals, and it was visibly obvious which maximas had HID's. i'm guessing that the 2nd gen CL has a risk equal to that of other cars. plus ive only seen maximas with ripped out headlights fixtures drivign around (when i lived in NY)

The problem is still huge in Jersey City and Newark. I live in Staten Island the problem isn't too bad out here but in Jersey city its real bad I personaly have seen about 7 acura tl's driving with the headlights ripped out. I havnt seen any CL's but then again it's not a car you see evry day

Over on the TL forum (2nd gen) there's still a thread regularly coming up about headlights being stolen.
