H E L P ! ! - sways are making weird clunking sounds ???
i had comptech sways put in on my cls some months back (sidemarker and i did it) and the rear sway over time started making a CLUNKING and snapping sound. I would hear it once in a while when going over bumps and entering places where the entrance to a business, for example, is sloped upwards. But overtime it started clunking more and more, even when driving on smooth, flat road.
I had to take it to the dealership and they told me the rear sway had to be re-torqued. But now the same thing is happening with my front sways!! Even tho it feels and sounds as if the sways is extremely loose and about to fall off, its fairly tight after inspecting it from underneathe
Anyone one have this problem?!? I would have never thought putting sways would lead to such problems

Did you lube them when you did the install? We have found the best thing to use is good grade wheel bearing grease- just coat the bar where the bushing goes. And make sure you really torque the bolts tight.

its amazing how loud the noise is so i doubt greasing it and adding more of the teflon tape will greatly help but i'll try...
fuk i hope that works

Lubing and Torqueing 'em should definitely fix it. I used to have an old 1984 VW GTI that was all done up. Over time the top Sway bar (over the engine) starting creaking and whining. When i took a hard turn it sounding like two god damn battle ships colliding!!
Anyway, I took it off, lubed up the bolts (the whole thread and the bolt head, is this bad? ...I think it was ok) with some of that super-goopey bearing grease that wayneg mentioned. Then I tightened the bolts down as hard as I could. ...no more noise...magic!
Optional: I also wiped off any excess grease that was visible in globs after I was done to avoid the mega-grime build-up (but that was just for aesthetics in the engine compartment on the top sway). I wouldn't use anything that is specifically for disolving grease when doing post-op cleaning. You want everything to stay lubed in all the nooks and crannies. But flat, exposed surfaces can be wiped off if they're greasy.
Peace, and good luck!

If it creaks, then you need to lube the bushings, if it clunks, then it sounds like you have a loose bolt.

At home.. a quick inspection revealed that one or more bolts need to be re-torqued.... once done silent like stock... even better!
