Are you near Reading, PA? On my home from work, I saw a bunch of fire engines (had to pull off the road) go up 222bus, and I smelled natural gas right where 222 (The Road to Nowhere) and 222business (5th street highway) intersect. I really smelled it. It made me cough a little.
Could it be a jewish fire?

Unless you signed something the shop is nt responible for fire/theft etc. shouldn't they be financially responsible for the truck?

CL..........I think nootch has a point regarding shop insurance. They have to have it and it should cover contents. Sorry to hear of your trauma--that was a nice looking ride, and no money ever really covers all the heart that goes into something like that.

I would get on the phone and contact the shop owner. He should have insurance called "Garage Keepers" I beleive in CA you have to have it to own/operate a shop. Get the owner to tell you the carriers name at least and then you can try and contact them and start on your claim. start gathering info on the work that has been done to it so that you can prove to the insurance company that its worth what its worth. Good luck!

I sure hope they will do an intense investigation. Was there any connection between the two shops that burned down? Two fires in the same month... If I was a detective I'd be all over that place. Maybe a worker who worked at one, moved to the other after he torched the place? Keep us informed... It could be just a freak accident... I suspect arson. Maybe they had NOS there, and it blew up?
NOS is not healthy when it ignites. Even the stuff they use at the dentists (my dad) is only 25% nitrus, and they can explode quite easily. Imagine what 90 to 100% would be like. Maybe more than a stick of dynamite.

Fine lookin' ride man, may she rest in peace. As for you, I hope you're ok. The attorney side of me says call the garage owner and find out who is carrier is and make a claim immediately. Be prepared to offer written estimates of value, including offering receipts for mods, paint, engine work, etc. If they don't pay, call an attorney to press a claim against the insurance carrier. In fact, you may want to call an attorney first before doing anything. I'd get a copy of the fire department's investigation as to the cause so you go into this fully prepared. Go down to the shop and take your own pix--and last, go have a few stiff drinks. If you need help with the legal side of things, let me know, I can get you referred to someone who can help ( and no, I don't want your money).

Don't draw any conclusions until they finish. But if it was arson, they won't know who did it. If he had NO in there, I'm willing to bet it had somethign to do with it. NOS is nasty. My father is a dentist, and back in '75 (before I was born) a friend of his (an orthodontist) ... He went to change the NO canister and it just blew up with him right next to it. He didn't survive. It was during the winter, so they figure it was static, sone residual gas leaked out when he unscrewed it, there was a spark... boom.
My mother tells me that was right around the time my dad quit using it.
