guys, i didn't tell you this yet, but...

i won the quaker state dyno challenge (6cyl. n/a) at the NHRA sport compact drags a couple weeks ago. they gave me a fatty plaque, a case of oil and they put my picture up on the web site.

scroll down a bit. you can click the link for a bigger pic and info. http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/

the pull kinda sucked, and i only got one. 208.2 hp. i think the dyno was calibrated wrong because eveyone was complaining about low numbers. other reasons why my dyno was low~

1. only got 1 pull.
2. it was done in d3, should have been in ss, 3rd gear.
3. he didn't floor it until 4k rpm. so graph only goes from 4200- 6800 rpm. see problem # 2.
4. he stopped it at 6800 rpm, hp was still climbing.
5. i had 89 octane in the tank. [damn gas prices ]
6. it was a mobile dyno on a trailer.

i tried to get another pull in later but they were repairing the thing. i even went back on sunday (2 day event) and the thing was still broken (for good).

so even though it was low, it was still good enough to win. and i love to rep the cl-s.

ps - nothing sounded as good as my cl-s, it was sick. GReddy EVO > *

cool, i would still expect at least 10 more hp though given your mods under those circumstances... what gives, we are supposed to have 260 hp at the crank, whats the math for auto tranny loss to the wheels?

this is another member's dyno, stock peaking at 216 hp stock. you have I\H\E and you topped out at 208? How did an NA RSX come so close given the same dyno? congrats though.

if you read my original post, you'll see that i don't accept the 208.2 hp dyno as being an accurate measure of my hp to the wheels. i would expect to be in the 230's for a true reading.

the last time johntypes went to the track his best run was a 14.50. his last dyno was 237.9 hp.

my best time at the import drags was a 14.47. i think that pretty much spells it out right there.

97.28 on that run. best trap of the day was 98.21

pretty dissapointing weekend as far as times and traps went. the previous time at the track yielded consistant 14.30's at 99.xx.

hard to pinpoint what the problem was, since i have new cat back exhaust, tranny and ecu since then. plus the shitty gas didn't help. my quickest times actually came during the hottest part of the day, which was also after i dumped a gallon of 96 octane on top of the 89 that was still in the tank.

97-98-99 are excellent trap speeds. If I recall correctly the best trap speed for my CLS was 97... I am looking for this magical 100 MPH.

Matt, you want me to bring some race gas for Medford?? I have a decent hook up for them... I can bring like 1 gallon, or how ever much my gas can holds. I would be running on Friday night, but I sure would like to do everything I can to make you the first NA auto CLS to be in the 13's. Unless that's been done already??

But if you are getting other form of help before the meet, that's another story..

p.s. still interested in the breaks or borrowing the Recaro's?

i'm still interested in the brakes. not sure if i'll get them before the meet though. the seats would have been cool but it's too late to get a bracket now.

i ended up paying off my credit card instead of getting that nitrous kit. :o

no power adders for me this time.

I've cut them up for good this time... Time for me to get a part-time job again...

But damn.. I was hoping to get your car into the 13's this meet... I think I will bring some race gas just in case.

i was just pissed at the thought of paying 2.29 a gallon. i won't do it again though, my car was pinging a little bit during low rpm acceleration.

Way to go Matt. Thumbs up. Two weeks ago, I also bought 89 Octane. I could feel the difference and felt so guilty I re-filled w/92 whenever petrol guage read 3/4 full. Your S looks great but precarious up on that rig.
