GS400 vs CL-S

I was heading home from a long day of work and I noticed this Lexus all on my ass. Naturally I stomped the gas and put plenty of space between us. Next thing I know he's flying up on me again. We then get to a stoplight and he revs the motor at me. I knew those GS400's were fast but had no idea how fast they actually are. He hit the gas a split second before me at the light because I wasn't sure that he wanted to race at first. After that split second, I floored it. I was surprised that I actually kept up with the guy through about mid 3rd gear. After that I noticed him starting to pull on me so I hit the brake. Mainly because it was a 35mph road that is always loaded with cops. I pulled up beside the guy and gave him a thumbs up, he just smiled. I think those things are v8's with 300hp but not sure. All I know is that they fly!

Now I definately have to get a CAI!

maybe w/a huge tailwind. what proof do you have they run 14 flat? i heard they run low 14s but 14.0s?

HAHA, no wonder you let off at 110mph, cuz you know wat will happen right after 110mph! Our lovely 4th gear!

Anyway, GS400 are quick, you have to get them off the line... if you felt asleep at the line, then you can say buh bai! But if you do get them off the line, since they are almost 4000lbs... they are really heavy to pick up... Now doenst mean you will beat them, just mean you will be able to have a lead in 1st and 2nd, once in third, those torque will come get you, and i assume they will craw from behind! So thats pretty much the only way you can play with them.....

I don't think a CL-S stands a chance against a GS off the line if the GS is in power mode and brake torques it. I have run my buddies stock CL-S many times in both my max and my GS....Both of them run away from the Type-S in first gear alone....It's no contest with the GS from a roll....easy 8-10 carlenghts from 60-120.

BTW a stock GS4 weighs 3700lbs...NOT 4000....and a stock Type-S weighs in a 3525lbs....the GS has a 40hp advantage...and almost 100TQ advantage.....lets just think about this for a second....yup...Russ in on Crack....

The owner of the GS400 told me he has run a few TYPE-S before me, and they always stayed within 1 car length behind him on a roll, at highway speeds. So we ran, and it was the same thing, I stayed with him and he wasn't walking me. A GS430 is got a bigger engine. Big difference. Smoking crack? I don't believe so, were you there? Didn't think so. Anyways, a GS400 stock runs mid to low 14s at best.

I was at the battle of the Import last year in Route 66 Chicago, there was a black GS400 running and his best time is 14.733 and mostly are 14.79~ 14.8 . He was running 16" light weight rims and nitto drag radial at the back, I never had a chance to look what's under the hood though....

A TypeS will do VERY well against both a 540 and GS off the line. I'm sorry TypeSKiller, I disagree with you. I've run against both TypeS and GS in my 540...off the line all cars are about the same to about 40 or so then the V8 will start to pull. I do agree that on a moving start both V8's will walk away easily. Now about this 1 car "theory" on the highway...sounds to me you've run against a GS300. My 540 may be a tad faster than the GS due to mods I have but overall it's about the same stock for stock.

I was running against a TypeS on the highway (NovaWhiteTypeS was in my car). We were both around 60mph and I can see the TypeS hit it first, I immediately caught him by like 65 or 70 and by the time I hit 90 easy 2 cars already (thus throwing out the 1 car theory out the window) and still pulling and pulling and pulling.

Does this mean the TypeS is slow? Hell no! It just means V6 vs V8 and normally that will be the result considering I have like 100 more lbs of TQ.

IMO GS will run low 14's not 14.0...I'm sure there are some that run 14.0 but I bet you will see more low 14's than 14.0 and that is the same case with the 540.

Oh the GS running 14.79-14.8 is pretty pathetic IMO. Maybe it was very very hot or who knows...that is hands down the slowest time I've seen.

YO 1SickLex, what do the GS dyno at...I dyno'ed my 540 on sunday.

GS430s are no faster than GS400's.....people have run them.

we're talking 60-120 here....you'd be suprised how much distance a slightly faster car can put on another car by 120 from a 60 roll.....we all know the CL-S dies after 110....I probably put 2 carlengths on him just between 110 and 120.

If any chicago CL-S guys would like to meet up next week...I'll gladly show you what a GS can do to a stock CL-S.......just drop me a line.

remember...this was a 60-120 roll....NOT 60-90.....the GS pulls like mad above 100 mph. I've run dead even with several stock LS-1 F-bodys over 100mph.

typical GS dyno is 235rwhp 245ft/lbs this is a 400 dyno...not a 430....the 430 has a little more torque.

Just to make you guys feel better....I'll make a video of my STOCK GS vs. my buddies stock CL-S....he won't be home for a few weeks though....

not quite....grated a 6-speed will be faster than an auto....I'll still take a 6-speed. A GS can pull on a 6-speed maxima which has a better power to weight ratio than the Type-S...the GS will be lucky to put 1-2 cars on the 6-speed though. If someone posted that they hung with a GS from a roll in a 6-speed CL-S...that would be much more believeable than the auto.

If there are any new 6-speed CLs in the Chicago area, I'd gladly run them just to see how well they can keep up.

Thanx for the info TypeSKiller...I guess the 540 automatics should dyno around the same figures...I only dyno'ed my car after mods...and I put down some impressive numbers compared to the 235/245.

I think everyone here agrees the GS will take a CLS especially on the highway. Some people just have a different definition of "smoked" I guess.

I am not here to cause trouble, but a CL-S is in no way gonna hang with a GS430/400. Look at the power to weight ratios. I had a 99' E320 and raced a TL-S from a 60 mph roll through the I-Pass lanes. We both hit it at the same time and I pulled 2 cars up to 100 or so. I am not sure if a CL-S is that much faster, but i know that the Benz would take a stock Cl-S from a roll. I also have run a GS430 in the E320 and I got raped. It wasnt even funny.

Black CL-S quit being an @sshole. I can call your Acura a overpriced Honda.


BTW...if anyone has a problem with any of the Maxima owners here take it up with Russ (Speedy3.2Cl-S). He likes to post a lot of links here and run his ignorant mouth.

Bullshit! My friend has a 2001 C320 and we race all the time. I raced him from a roll and from a light and beat him both times. There is no way you put two cars on him by 100, becuase I raced until 100 and had a almost a 2 car lead. So tell that Bullshit to someone else! His car is lighter than a E320 and has the same engine.

LOL!!! You ran that 14.0 with NOS. I was told this by another Maxima owner. No Maxima has ever hit low 14s without NOS.

SC is in development and almost out, not from a cheesy Stealin manufacture that parts break all the time. CL-S is compatible of over 150mph. I have hit 150 and my car was still pulling. There are other pictures of people doing it as well. This car got to 150 much faster than my 5th gen or 4th gen Maxima could do.

BTW...if anyone has a problem with any of the Maxima owners here take it up with Russ (Speedy3.2Cl-S). He likes to post a lot of links here and run his ignorant mouth.
I left the max site or about too because of ignorant morons like you and Doug. Alot of people have left that site because too many morons think they know more about the cars than they think they really know! Go away and quit causing trouble.
