GS-T or GSX

I finally got in a quick run with a '95 or '96 GS-T. I know it was a '95/'96 GS-T or GSX as it had the lowering molding painted grey (Black car) and had the swirled 5 spokes; my wife had a '96 GS-T (lightly modded). But since he never got in front of me I couldn't read the badging.

I was driving my usual fairly brisk pace on my way home. I left one light and when I switched lanes I saw a Black Eclipse move over also and then got in the lane to my left. I got stopped at the next light (which is a new one at my neighborhoods first entrance and for the golf course.) As I get stopped and see him pull up slow and I'm glancing to see if it which version it was; if it was an GS or RS I would bother.

Well I see the stock GS-T/GSX rims and the grey molding but he didn't pull even so I couldn't see what the person was like driving it. So I planned on there not being any game.

When the light turned green and started off brisk but no real launch. But he pulled out harder and got nearly a length in front, which of course I answered back. I got on it and by the end of first I nearly pulled even. Then slammed second and pulled up in front by about a length. Shifted to 3rd and kept pulling then shutting down midway into 3rd with several lengths on him (I assume it was a he, but I never saw).

I am assuming he was stock as I know my wife's old GS-T would not have been put down that easily, (I ran 14.7's - 14.9's) in that old car. Plus, I never heard any indication of a modded BOV which is one of the first things to do to them. But had I launched hard and we been able to pull through an entire 1320 foot pass it would have been really bad.

This 6-Speed with mods is oh-so fun now that I am getting so miles on it. I don't need to take it above 4500 too often with decent throttle input. But when I do it is very rewarding.

I'm going to Silver Dollar Raceway on the 29th, there is a Lexus/Import meet going on. So I'll have some slips then.

I will have my new airbox (similar to Comptech's icebox) done and maybe P&P the intake manifold, if I get the time. I'm still debating on the UR pullies and if I do decide on them I get them on before heading to the track.

I do plan on blocking the rear springs to see if 2.1 short times are possible on stock tires.

Scalbert-
I find that the Eclipse GS-T/ GSX tachs out so fast leaving room for our CLS's to make a nice impression!

Sounds like your enjoying the 6sp. should run real well at the track once it's stretched out a little. Interested in seeing pics of
the P&P process if you can snap a few while its broken down in the shop.

Yes, number and slips will be posted.

I'll definitely take pictures of the P&P process. It'll mostly be just polishing but there will be some minor changes to the paths particularly at the outlet of the TB into the manifold. I'll probably pull the manifold next weekend and start this, should take most of the day with my air grinder...
