group buy on vAFC
Hey everyone,
This was cleared through Adam. I do most of my posting on acura-tl.com (got 2 kids so I need 4drs ) and am looking to get an V-AFC. Over at http://www.import-store.com there is a group buy brewing. Justin Rheem is his name. He says we need about 15 individuals. The price reduction is about 30%. If you are interested, please go to the site or give him a call. Thanks!

A'PEXi V-AFC
It allows you to customize v-tec engagement and a/f ratios. If you have little in the way of engine modifications, it probably will do little for you. If you have H/I/E then it may be more applicable. It needs to be dyno tuned. Pretty particular to have an appreciable effect. On the other hand, if you are into cool looking stuff, the display is pretty cool.

I've never used a V-AFC however my WRX had an S-AFC and with proper tuning it took 0.5 seconds off my QM time (13.6 to a 13.1). That is a HUGE difference for a $300 part.
Good luck with your GB.

This harness sounds like it simplfies the install a great deal.
I get a forbidden link message:
Anyone who is interested, please let Justin know. The sooner we get the numbers, the sooner we rock with the V-AFC

The install is a little tricky since you have to tap into your ecu wiring. A guy on the S2000 forum, www.s2ki.com, had a group buy for ecu harnesses, so you would tap into the harness, instead of the stock wiring. He custom made one for my Accord V6 since I have extra wires for the auto-tranny that the manual S2k doesn't have. All you have to do is solder the v-afc wires to the wires he provided, then it's plug and play. (and dyno-tune) I think the ECU connections are the same for all Hondas since 2000, so I imagine that the harness might also work for the CL/TL.

Got the harness, but now I need a v-afc, so I'm interested in the GB.
edit- sorry i deleted my old post to fix the link.

Here's the thread on the s2ki board, though it's kinda old. You might try PMing RWD_RCKT or Jaker. It's kinda salty at $160, but for me it's worth it to be able to easily go completely back to stock.

or on the Accord V6 board-

You can potentially do damage to your engine if you lean out the a/f too much or damage your cat if you run too rich, therefore, it's probably a good idea to get the v-afc dyno-tuned.
