grounding kit installed then /!\ and CEL light stuck on

so i got this grounding kit. which actually looks pretty good outta the box. followed the instructions to a tee.. i kept the original grounding points.. then i added on a new wire to the trans ground and the chassis ground.. and ran 2 other grounds.. one off the engine and another off the chassis. so i have the trans ground with 2 wires, the chassis with 2 and then one on the engine and one on another chassis location... once it was hooked up i started the car and the cherries lit up on the dash.. like wtf???

was it because i used the trans and the chassis ground with 2 seperate wires each or what???

i couldn't find a good spot for the trans ground aside from the oem location so i added the ground wire from the kit to that spot..

i dunno much about dc... i deal with 240vac all day long but this shyt has me kinda stumped...

anyone know why all the cherries lit up? cause i'd like to be able to install this 50$ kit i bought and not just trash it.

merci!!

Uninstall everything, and reset ECU. If lights are still there, you have a problem.

Then go step by step. Install one wire, check dash, install another wire, check dash, etc.
^This will show you which wire(s) cause the issue.

yea i instantly uninstalled the whole thing ans it was all back to normal... im thinking it's because i used the same grounding points as the oem ones for the new grounding kit???

but that's just a guess.

i guess i'll have to do it the way u suggested.. but that's gonna take up some time :-( oh wellll

I installed my sun auto hyperground kit in 2004. I followed the instructions and had no issues. I will go to my car when I get a chance and take pics of where it attaches.

I didn't know the kit was vehicle specific. Do you still have the instructions?

I've been staring at wiring diagrams for 15 minutes trying to see some sort of LOGICAL reason this would happen...the only thing I came up with is you possibly left a ground wire loose/off causing a ground to be pulled the instrument cluster light bulbs causing them to all illuminate because they all share a common circuit on one side of each of the bulbs OR one of the ground wires are internally open (loss of continuity) giving the same effect as the first possibility. Have you done continuity checks on all the cables/straps?

The ONLY time I've ever seen multiple lights on a cluster light (usually includes both turn signal indicators as well) is when a ground was weak or missing. That's it.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. But I still have the grounding kit. But now my ground wires I have been told by mechanic may be why the Trans flares only user very low throttle. Now that the Trans has been fix for the third freaking time... I'm sure he fixed it correctly like the last two times.

Last time I got the cel. Come to think of it I doubled up the ground. Ie I added the grounds I did not remove the old one then install the new ones. 2-3 of which were doubled up going to the same spot. I'm thinking that's why I got the cel?

I am not 4 k into this hunk of metal and I hate the thought of even having to touch it after I waiting 4 months and spending 4 gs.
List of problems when I dropped it off transmission. ... So I thought

List of actual problems
Transmission clutches worn out, master cylinder leaking and needed replacing, cooling fan relay decided to go haywire, battery died, hood struts now failed, and two days ago he tells me it won't start cause the starter is now seized cause it's not been driving for 1/3 of a year, the transmission still flares after all that's been addressed. And he says it's gotta be electronic. So I am going to replace the grounds since they look pretty mangled and cross my fingers. Then I will be installing a new tps once that doesn't work lol.

Fuck my life

This time I got rid of all the original grounds and added the kit. And no engine code or nothign so clearly it was cause I was a lazy ass and added them on instead of removing the old ones and then putting on the kit. There is more voltage at the battery now by about .40v so it's at 14.65 v now at the battery. Although I still have my issues but hey it did work lol
