Grinding sound.

Grinding sound.
I noticed a subtle grinding sound right at 1000 rpms. It goes away w/i 100-200 rpms. It doesn't matter if the a/c is compressor is on or not or you're in park or drive. It's always there at 1000 rpms. 
Sounds like it's coming from the alternator or something vibrating like a heat shield near the alternator. Car runs great. 
Any ideas?
