Great fuel mileage . . .

from Lee Vining, Ca through Reno, NV over to Lassen Nat'l Park with fuel put in at Yreka, CA. 467.2 miles on 14.551 gallons for 32.1mpg. Next part of trip was north to Crater Lake Nat'l Park, snow/sleet/39 degree daytime temps, and then on to Oregon Caves, OR on 13.825 galllons for 452.4 miles a 32.71mpg average. Speeds were in the 70-80 range when possible. Comming back from the Redwoods yesterday trough the Napa Valley and down Interstate 5 at 80-90 returned 29.01mpg. I have complained about a lot of things on this car, but fuel mileage is sure not one of them. It seems to me that the car gets better mileage at higher elevations. I wish some of this would rub off on my wife's IS300, aka the "gas pig".

Last month I ran I-83 out of Baltimore up to PA-81 to 78E into NJ ~250miles; cruise control @75 yielded 34.0 mpg. Had broken 31 mpg in the past but this was the best yet...

this from 260hp. can't complain one bit.

Just think... I use to get 32-36 MPG on my 1956 VW Bug, 1200cc, 36 HP. The best I've gotten so far in my current car is about 30 MPG. But I think I can do better.

I used to live up in Eureka right on the coast about 5hrs north of S.F. it's not really higher in elevation but the air is so dense with o2 that the cars burn fuel a hell of a lot cleaner than they do down here, that's probably why you noticed a big jump in mpg. and on top of that the air is a lot cooler so if have a CAI, Zoom Zoom

The best i have gotten going from miami to Gainesville, FL was 29.7 MPG doing 80 with the AC on. My engine at that time had 600 miles on it with the break in oil i guess. Just finished switching to mobile 1 5w-20. We'll se how it goes.

PS. sucks cuz i only drive .5 miles to work so my mileage is really horrendous on weekdays!

If I only had a 0.5 mile commute, I'd walk; but then again I need the exercise.

Compared to the Camaro I just traded in, my Cl is great in mpg. I get about 30 in CITY driving . I could not even do 20 with my Camaro on all highway driving.

[B] That is a lot of good engineering (plus good driving habits)....anytime you exceed 30 MPG, you are doing something right. (4-cyl excepted)

I've been averaging about 25city/31 highway since the switch back to regular fuel (overy the crap winter mix we get here). Even driving it hard I've never gotten less than 25mpg combined.

My gf's 03 Maxima auto struggles to get 20mpg combined.

I did a lot of driving in northern AZ a couple weekends ago (Sedona/Grand Canyon), much of it between 6,000-8,000ft elevation. I was amazed that I got ~34mpg. My previous best was ~30mpg so the elevation must've made a big difference.
