Gotta change the oil soon: Redline OR Mobil 1 Synthetic

I have used both oils before in my 98 Prelude and loved them both. But i'm not sure what to use for the Type S. If i use Redline 5W30 I'd change the oil every 6K miles and the filter every 3K miles. If I use Mobil 1 5W30, I'll change the oil/filter every 3K miles.

I personally feel like the Redline oil gives better protection and it feels like the car has a few added hp. The Mobil 1 is more accessable, but I'd change it sooner b/c its not as good as the Redline.

I'm just not sure if the Redline oil is as good for V-6 engines as it is for the 4-cylinder vtec's.
I used Redline in my Prelude b/c i loved to rev it hard and I really didn't care as much for the engine. I want to keep the Type S's engine in top condition though.

(OR should I get the Redline 10W30 for even more protection)???

Thanks in advance for any comments/help!

Redline also makes "racing" versions of their oil. They don't recommend them for full-time street use. They say you will get extra power from reduced flow losses.

Call Redline and ask them (if you care). I gleaned the info from an American/Domestic Car Parts catalog...

I use 5-30

Didn't notice any changes in performance or mileage.
On the edmonds board there is a cl-s owner who had his amsoil tested at a lab. His oil had over 10k miles on it. The results were to change the oil filter and keep his oil in there for 25k or one year. search on "alarmpro" on that board; he's also known as "lee in miami". I'm changing mine every 6k. Also note there is quite a differents in filters. Amsoil filters or mobil1 filters are good. Mobile 1 is also good syn oil.

I don't think you need to change your oil every 3K miles, even if you beat the shit out of your car. Obviously, it won't hurt but the manual says 7.5K miles for normal driving and 5K miles for extreme conditions. I've used Mobil 1 in several different cars and I've always been very happy with it.

I just changed over to Mobile 1 (22,500) with their filter. I'll let you know if I notice any differances (mileage), although with the warmer weather and getting rid of oxygen fuels mileage will be going up anyway.

Anyone hear of/use Royal Purple? (www.royalpurple.com)
I know some people using it and getting great results. Im going to give it a try next oil change. A royal purple sales engineer was in visiting our company the other week, and demonstrating the lubrication differences between petroleum oil, Mobil 1, and royal purple's motor oil, and the difference between the royal purple and mobil 1 was like night and day. (I work for a company that engineers, sells, and services high-speed rotating equipment, which is why royal-purple stopped in).
