Got ticket for no plate!

Coming back from school i noticed that i had gotten a ticket for no front plate. I know that i have to put it on to show a cop to get it signed off. My ? is that what would happend if i take the plate of again? Will there be a stiffer fine or what? The CL looks sooooooooooo much better w/o the frame, and also it will scratch the bumper like mine was be4 i got it re-painted.

You can get a ticket for front plate while its parked. The state has given authority to DPTs to ticket cars without front plates. $10 fix it. Do it as much as you want.

10 bucks thats kind of cheap considering if you get pulled over its anywhere between 50-100...

So when i take it off again, will it show in the "cop computer" that I had already gotten a citation for this? And if it is only $10 everytime, i might as well take it off again! I have driven for like 5 years now, and never gotten one. The thing is that i have to park at the same lot everyday!

I don't think that 'fixit' tickets go on the proverbial permanent record.

IMHO, the $10 fine is not the issue, the inconvenience of proving to the court and the sheriff/CHP that it was fixed is the real pain in the ass.

I got one of these once about 2 years ago in LA about a week after a cop pulled me over to give me a friendly (ie: non written) warning. The first one told me that LAPD was enforcing the front plate law as the running-the-red-light-intersection-cameras depend on the front plate to make an ID. If you run the red light without the plate they cannot use the cameras.

Of course, my thought is that a fixit ticket may be a pain, but its cheap and 0 points. A red light violation can be a money, insurance, and points issue. You decide.

My car is now registered in PA where there are no front plates.

Had my car parked in Shea Stadiam parking lot. Got a ticket for no front plate. $50 DOLLAR TICKET!!!! I had it in the windsheld. Plus the front of my car was smashed. I took a pic of the front of my car. Took a picture of both plate together( to show i had both and explained that the car was in an accident and it was on the windsheld. They sent it back with a reduced fine to $30 dollars. They said the accident wasn't a valid excuse.

If you see my post above you'll see that it has nothing to do with being bored (at least in LA or areas with cameras at the intersections). It directly has to do with catching more people running red lights which ultimately has to do with increasing revenue and, indirectly, safety.

I think the city has a vested interest in enforcing the front plate rule if it means increased revenues down the road.

I am not going to put the front plate back on, if its 10 bucks per time. but i did not think that they can fine u if the vehicle is parked. maybe u should check up on that. but regardless the car looks lot better without that damn plate in front.

thats weird..... i also did not know that they could do that while you were parked....

so in essence, I could park my car on the street DIRECTLY next to my house and get a ticket for not having my plate on????
Thats weaksause.

Fuck the front plate that should be a ticket...but an air freshner hanging from your mirror should not be. I got pulled over for that bullshit then arrested for not paying a tint ticket, after I already took my tint off. NJ Rules

keep your plate on the dash so it can be seen out the windsheild.
we have the same law up here. i have been doing this for twenty years.

on my cl it never came with a plate holder and i wasn't going to drill the holes in the bumper for it. glue some foam to the back of your plate so it won't scratch your dash.

then you won't have to worry about any more tickets.
$25 fine here.
the law states here anyway
that all cars have to have thier plates visible from the front.
dosen't say where --just visible

!!!

I got ticketed $50 here in Utah for no front plate (pulled over) then I got ticketed for 35% tints (41% is the law). The cop then tried to act smart by investigating my stock mufflers because he thought they were aftermarket! I'm assuming that he was gonna have me rev my engine or something so that he could check the decibels, but he didn't. Asshole.

Peace

Here in Virginia, they require a front and rear plate. I hate having the front attached, but I can't afford to go up against the Ticket Nazis here in No Va so I have to live with the butt ugly thing sticking out of my bumber... it sucks.

This was done a long time ago before you had the idea. The CA VC does state the license plate must be securely mounted 4-15(?) inches above the ground. The key is securely, mounting it on the dash is a safety hazard since if you are hit or suddenly slam on your brakes, your license plate could go flying.

It comes down to revenue as slimey has said, that's why the DPT is allowed to ticket you for no front plate, not just PD.

I got a ticket for no front plate and tints on the 91 freeway in SoCal right before Xmas. It was $25 for each infraction. Who says the quota system is no longer in effect?

These are fixit tickets, not moving violations.

I said it above - I don't think the issue is the $$ as much as it is a pain in the ass to go to prove that you fixed the problem to a peace officer and then have the court sign off on it. A complete waste of a couple hours.

Of course not having a front plate (in CA) is asking for the police to come over and harass you. Simple fixit violations are like open invitations for the police to bug you.

I just happy that he did not also give me a ticket for having my front windows tinted! It is only 50%, but takin tint off is the way worse then the license plates!

ive gotten 2 its 10 bucks in ca if you get it signed off, you can just pay a fine and not have it fixed also but its over a hundred dollars, the only way the fine escalates is if you dont fix the violation, its called a failure to comply then you pay a ton.
i got mine in my jeep along with like six other fix it tickets for no mudflaps/fender flares dont cover tires and bunch of other crap i fixed some of it and didnt fix others because the fine was less than the cost of repair

Mine wasn't a fixit ticket. I had to pay, and put the plate on.

Someone needs to invent a motorized plate that can stow under the front bumper and just press a button to have it show and hide it. I have an idea how to do it just not the mechanical experience for a prototype. Luckily my front bumper wasn't drilled through when I bought my car.
