Got smoked buy a 2nd gen eclipse

Just raced a 95-99 2nd gen eclipse gs-t, with an upgraded turbo, he smoked me at the line, but I caught up to him at 100 mph, good race, was impressed buy the turbo upgrade. So is it better to race with the VSA off? I didn't peel out at all. Just wanted to share my first race experience with my type S.

Those GSTs are fast in stock form...low 6s if I remember correctly from the brochure.

yah i always turn the vsa off when i am racing....eclispe is fast...gsx handles better.. 4wd and turbo.... i intend to buy a used ecliepse gsx used...in the future...cool and good

High end on Acura/Hondas are the best, I caught up to him at about 100 mph, my CAI should be coming in really soon, then my high end will be wide open. Should improve my performace a little bit. Question about VSA, if you have VSA off, wouldn't you have a harder time getting traction at launch? When I raced last night, I had the VSA on, and I barely spun out, just wondering how having VSA off helps your performance.

What's the best CAI to buy?

I could probably afford one since it's about the cheapest mod, right?

I myself ordered a Xephyr CAI with AEM bypass valve, alot of guys on the forum have AEM, a few have injen, I think perforamce wise they would be similar. I personally wanted a polished CAI with bypass valve and Xephyr was the only that had that combo for under $200, Injen looks prett nice too, but runs around $200 without the bypass valve.

As an ex 2nd gen Talon owner I can tell you that even in stock form we should have trouble to keep up with them (I am assuming the DSM was manual tranny).

If he upgraded the turbo and they did a good job on tuning, these things can make 300HP-350HP with no prob and jsut bolt ons.

Was it an AWD? FWD are faster if raced while in motion (they have trouble griping from a stand still) so the top end should be pretty good in a FWD, not so good to an AWD.

These were some amazing cars. Too bad Mitsu went totally the other way with the new gen Eclipse. But...money is what counts above all to these companies so I dont blame them.
