My first accident in 11 years happened yesterday. I got rearended at a red light by a 2002 A4 3.0 quattro! kid was paying no attention to the road leaning down to answer his cell phone(which he admited to the cop) poor dumb kid.he was only going maybe 5mph! just got my first estimate for repair $1000, new bumper and exhust tip. this blows.
anybody else have a replacement bumper? just wondering $1000 seems high, but the place I went is very reputible

Did the cop fine him for talking on the phone? I know it's not illegal in most places, but there is a non-specific driver distraction rule that may apply. At the very least this will help his insurance company to fork over the $$ for the fix.

Sounds close with the exhaust stuff.

I think the bumper was $300 and paint was about $200. The exhaust labor will up the cost.

I was rearended with only 700 miles on my baby.

I had it fixed at the Acura body shop and I cannot tell. They did an excellent job.

yes, this moron kid should be getting a cell phone ticket, the NY cell phone law applies to the entire state and it says that you can under no circumstances talk while in motion

Yes LI has the cell phone band too. This kid was not on the phone he was reaching to answer a call. so technically he cant be ticketed. But the cop who was real cool said he was at least 90% at fault. Imagine that. Im stoped at a red light light miding my business and somehow Im 10% at fault. damn insurance companies. So tonight Im calling him a trying to get him to pay for the bumper out of pocket or telling him Im suing his insurance company. Kepp you guys posted

 

Mr. SanMarinoTypeS...i am sorry about your recent accident..in fact out of good faith I have two new exhaust pipes and muffler i will give to you that i have just taken off my car with only 4,500 miles on them. With a lil dustbusting and a touch of chrome polish they will look brand new. All you have to do is send me a money order for the packaging and shipping which i will show you the receipt for and thats all. You will be as good as new minus the bumper. Tell me what you think.

Thats real cool of you! the right side exhust tip is the one thats bent. The Left side survived unscaved.as did the mufler. Send me your info. I ll send money order right out to you! Thanks again
