Got my springs and....

I didn't know they were they same for the 99 TL through 01 CL. Is this correct?

I have an appointment at Jotech next Saturday, 17 March, 10 am.

No, I didn't get the sways yet. First, I want to see how I like the car with just the springs. I've heard the sways really make the car tight, which is not what I really want (another Camaro). I'm more of a "go fast in a straight line" kind of guy. And I certainly like a comfy ride.

Does'nt anybody sleep on this board, anyway: I did the same, put on the springs, just completed the window tint this week and now I'm wondering about the ride with the sways. I don't think they affect the ride on normal roads, I have been told the only time you feel them is going over potholes, the car wants to lurch sideways insted of up and down. Next month I'm going to put them on, if I don't like them I can sell them on this board. The last set got sold in one day. I do installs myself so the only loss is the time for removal.

Having done this installation quite a few times I can say that the ride though quite a bit tighter is without a doubt now in BMW territory. It is not bone jarring or harsh it is quite simply well controlled without any undue nonsense. If you have driven a good sports car that is what it is like, tight and firm but surprisingly comfortable.Jens

Are you referring to sways or springs or both?

Got my comptech springs yesterday. I am getting them installed today. I am letting Jotech do them over in Garland. I hope they don't f-up my car. Have an apt. at 3:00. They told me that it would take about 2 hours or so. Quoted me $200 plus tax. I can't wait to put them on, I just hope I do not regret it later.

Am I going to need an alignment after the new springs go on?

The papers that came with the springs say, "Sport Springs Installation Tips CL/TL/Accord" I guess they will fit all 3.

Yes to the alignment. Goodson did mine for
$74, only went there because they had the alignment specs for 2001. Other shops should have them by now.
Do you own a couple of restaurants??

Jotech's doing my car next Saturday. Let me know how your experience was. They told me they've done a couple of 2001 CL-S's already.

Just got back from Jotech. When I left I asked them if I was going to need an alingment. They said no, but as I was driving away I noticed that my car was not driving as straight as it was when I broungt it in. It kind of feels like the steering wheel is a noch off. Gonna need to take it in for an alignment. #1 I cannot stand to feel like my steering is off #2 I don't want to fry my tires before their time.

They did a good job. Took them about an hour and a half. They did, however, rip the leather/pleather on the top of the rear console. They are going to pay for a new one. Said they would order one from MacDavid on Monday. The mechanic was very embarassed and appologetic about the mistake. No biggie, as long as he gets me a new one quickly. And yes, I did get it in writing.

Drives pretty good. Not bumpy at all, and it looks 100% better.

Oh yea, $200 even. No tax!

Absolutely get the car aligned!!You can rest assured the toe setting on the car will be way off.Camber should not be an issue with Comptech springs. But get the car aligned or else you will quickly wear the tires out.Jens

Thanks for the update! Most of the members on this board that have the springs have said you'll need an alignment after installation. Jotech told me the place next to them does alignments for $65.

I hope they don't screw up my rear seat! I'm gonna tell them to take their time and do it right!

Jens,

I would agree with you 100% regarding the feel of the CL-S after sways and springs. It is definitely tighter/tauter...more like 5 series IMO. Not bone jarring, but a definite firmness in corners and transitional maneuvers.
