Someone entertain me and tell why you wouldnt just remove the amber piece, instead you are replacing with an expensive clear piece? Doing the headlights is easy, not sure why people make such a fuss, i did mine in 2 hours.

They offer more of a finished factory look.

As far as expensive, what are you comparing to?

the Nissan JDM clears for the G35C's are running the about the same price. These were made completely custom though.

They look great BTW Scooter!!

Clearer looking than the first pics we saw as I expected them to be... I bet they will look even better behind the lens tho!!

I heard these were taped on and had white paper behind them.

Diffusers spread or scatter the light from the bulb completely throughout the entire diffuser piece. What that does is lit up it will give them a stock apearance while without it you will only see a bulb lit up. Once nate has his installed you'll be able to clearly see what diffusers do. To some degree people couldn't care less if they didn't have lights at all and that is why their cars look sorta like "SHEET" but if you look closely at the people who are doing this to their cars really love their car. I know I do

Why exactly are they called diffusers? Like why practically? I know the term insinuates they're diffusing light, but I don't get why/how those are doing that.

I've always known diffusers on cars to be horizontal pieces installed on the bottom of the front end to help airflow under the car and to add a sharper more aggressive look to a car (like a BMW for instance). So when I clicked on this thread I was expecting to see pics of Scooter ricing out his CLS.

diffuser= (in a lighting fixture) any of a variety of translucent materials for filtering glare from the light source.

Jrock = owned

Diffusers on the bottom front end you mean the "FRONT LIP"

This is correct. All you have to do is look at a TL/CL (or a Civic for that matter) that is cleared with the exposed bulb to know the difference. It might look fine at Daytime, but I don't like the look at night when that little wimpy bulb is shown in the corner, the "diffuser" scatters the bulbs light output accross the whole piece at night.

Scooter is going for it next weekend and I will help just in case he runs into any problem and we have to go in my car to get something from Homedepot or something. Based on how that goes I will either do my own install or if Scooter likes he can help me with mine. Darrinb believe me you have nothing to worry about it there is all the information you need from this forum and worse come to worse they'll fog a little which means do it all over again. If not pay them $200 and they clear them for you which i was going to do if Scooter wasn't going for it next weekend.

Just a tip on doing this youself:

There are a lot of good write-ups on doing this over on the S2000 fourms... they have done many of these this way.

It is essentially the same process for us.
Here are a few...

Soopa suggested something a while back which was a very good idea IMO...have a vacuum handy to suck out as much humidity-filled air as possible as yer resealing the housings...i got one of those thin attachments that fits into small spaces, so i don't see why i'll get any real fogging problems

Nice~!! I haven't even had time to install mines!!!!

Nature just isn't working to my way. It rains when I have the opportunity, or I get sick.

I want to see ya'll pics when it's installed. Hopefully this week I install mine also.

Nate, It's true, we put a white piece of paper in the back and taped it onto the car.

There's a pic of my car with the clears just smacked on like the way scooter did it.

Well I was GOING to post a couple pics of what I'm talking about (I guess I have the wrong word) but apparently somewhere in the few months I haven't visited DTMPower it became a pay-only site. That's gay.

if the visuals come in white then there is no question that would be the best choice cause the whole headlight would be completely see through like the pic. How much are those Polargs visuals in white I should cop those for sure

I like the look of the cleared out lights but I doubt that I would risk clearing my lights. It isn't so big of a deal to me. I think that the silver CLs look better cleared. The black (like mine) and the blue don't look too bad.

I actually prefer the look of the cleared lights without the diffuser. It looks more like the rest of the headlights IMO.

Yes arsondevine,

That is a cleared TL headlight.

ElegantTLS, would you happen to have a night pic with that setup shown? That is an led in the marker light, right?

Well, I don't really have any night pics of my car with those lights anymore, since I went back to original lights. Once I get these damn diffusers in, I'll have that setup again. but you won't be able to see the LED bulb anymore.

Yes, those are LED's. Dual LED's. PIAA High Intensity.

But I hope these are good enough.

2nd car to the right.

just outta curiosity, since the clear diffusers are the OEM design, if we get stopped for them, can we try and tell them we changed the bulbs only???

This is a reason why I like the clear diffuser, because It does not look like an obviously modified light so much. It achieves clearing the light while maintaining an "oem look"
