Got beat by a Legend, WTF???

I raced a Legend sedan yesterday. He had me about 1/2 a car length and he got me off the line. I caught up at one point but he started pulling ahead. I thought the legend was under 220 horseys???

Welcome to:

a) heavily moddified Legend

b) 6spd Type II Engine Legend.. capable of high 14's stock.. and way more torque than you can imagine..

look for pimp on this forum.. he has both the 6spd Legend and the CL-S .. he can tell you the difference Night and Day..

I will tell you this.. he won't race me with the CL-S .. but he will race me with the Legend.. that has to tell you something..

If it was a sedan, chances are it was modified. There wasn't a 6-speed manual available for the sedan Legend, only the coupe (I may stand corrected). Torque was roughly 220-230lb-ft. What does "gobs" of torque mean??

I heard those 6sp gearboxes were crap.

i said more than he would imagine.. being that it wasn't the typical no torque honda engine.. which means it has highway pull..

I was pretty sure only a limited number of coupes got the six speed too

There was a six speed Legend sedan. It is rarer than the coupe though. Gearboxes were not crap, either.

I hate to be the one to tell you this doug...but our CL has a lot of torque and a lot more than your Max and at more useable rpms...(232lbs./ft @3500-4500 rpms)

then my you my friend don't have a typical honda engine...

anyway.. your CL-S doesn't have more torque than MY maxima.. it has more torque than a stock max..

and what is the dyno on a CL-S anyway? lets talk wheel hp and tq now.. not crank..

Legend Stats are as follows:

Type I 200Hp/210Tq
Type II 230Hp/206Tq

6-Speeds in both coupe and sedan, only a small percentage though.

Dyno runs have around 180-185 HP to the wheels w/ the Type II, thats not much less than the CL-S/TL-S. Its concievable for the Legend to have won, driver dependant.

the dyno doesn't take into acct the lighter weight wheels.

i ran a 14.302 @98.69 w/just bolt ons and ssr wheels and a ton of wheel hop.
i ran a 14.422 a couple of weeks ago but it was much hotter and much more humid. I'll hit 14.1s once I get the launch down.

you're referring to your s2000 or the lude? Before my friend bought his SC for his s2k i beat him 3 out of 4 races. He's a decent driver but from what he tells me the s2k can be tough to launch.

I think graphing the dyno curve as hp/torque over mph is a nice touch. most of the rest of the world graphs the hp/torque as a function of the engine speed (rpms) rather than vehicle speed (mph).

what really cracks me up is that the graph shows only 60hp at 40mph and 700hp at 110mph... kinda peaky, eh? :p

with only 60hp at 40mph, narcolepsy would seem to be the bigger problem...

Everyone knows that real racers don't use those anymore

All you really need are titanium muffler bearings, SE rated headlight fluid and RT level lugnut fluid and you can put any car in the 12s...
