does anyone know what the specs of this car is so i can determine how slow my CL-P is? went about a quarter mile with him and lost by about a car length!! is my car really that slow or is it just me being a lousy driver?

What did you expect? The E55 competes with the M5. 0-60 in about 5.2 1/4 in approx~ mid 13s. I dont believe you lost by 1 length. He/She was playing with you.

it was an AMG....and i did hear his tires squeel when we both hit the gas pedal. i'm sure he was probably just toying with me afterwards....but one thing's for sure....the driver was UGLY as shit. LOL!!! c'mon guys....i only lost by a car length....believe me!! HONEST!!

Yea I would never ever mess with any Benz AMG, but I highly doubt it could be a 320 with AMG badges.. those suckers only have 221 hp and weigh over 3600 lbs.. I think CL-Ps can even take those.. and if the car is 98 or before 320's only had a 4-speed auto

I drove an S500 a while back... not an AMG but close enough..... did you guys know.. the car lowers itself by about an inch at 65mph... for better aerodynamic performance... grrrrrr

Friend works for a Press Fleet that delivers Mercedes. The E55 with the AMG is sweet. I love that car. Best car there is the CL-500 and CL-600

You know, I raced an S500 from 50mph to 100 mph and he could not pass me. I still doubt he was at WOT but I dont know for sure. I think S500s should about as fast as our cars since they are pretty heavy. The S600 I believe does the 0-60 in about 5.8 secs so S500 should be in the low 6s.

Note that from now on AMG will be using almost exclusively forced feeding for their engine mods. So a lot more superchargers to come from AMG. The beginning is the forced feeding of their 3.2 liter engine to make 354HP for the SLK AMG and the C32 AMG. That means that when they supercharge their 5.0 liter engine, it should be in the low 400s as far as HP. Wow, those Mercs are getting fast at this point.

I drove next to a silver E55 AMG on the way home from Vegas last weekend (that is one BAD ASS CAR!). We were just crusin' and then he wanted to pass some moron in a blazer.

You should feel honored to have your ass spanked by an E55. Those things are MONSTERS. But you get what you pay for...those people w/ E55s wait over a year when they're on the waiting list for the car.

By the way, my parents have a '99 E320. Even though it has a 3.2ltr engine too, it is DEFINETLY slower than the CL-S. It is luxury-tuned, not race-tuned like ours(well ours isn't exactly RACE tuned, but you know what I mean...)
