Good timing - got the perfect 01 CL-S

New to the forum, and to Acura...

I'm the Internet Manager for Infiniti in Columbus, Ohio - and although I could have gotten a GREAT deal on a G35 Coupe (obviously), we had a customer trade in an 01 CL-S...

Something about it worked for me... so I bought it this morning!! It's black/black - older guy that traded it was a car nut! It has 50k miles, no tranny problems... paid $16k no tax.

The guy did the exact things I would have done anyway... blue driving lights, removed the 3.2 CL badge leaving only the Type-S badge in place on the tail... factory spoiler, K&N filter... black grill.

AND - Thermal R&D mufflers... like the sound, he gave me the stock pipes too - thinking of selling the aftermarket. Quad exhaust tips look cool though...

Anyway - just giving a shout... I have somethings I want to do to the car... will ask questions about that stuff on other posts...

well since you work for a dealer Im sure you can get acura parts at wholesale price...I got mine from the dealer through a hookup they are the 2003 tailights and they should come with a new turning signal socket and some amber bulbs. I used Piaa extreme whites which are very bright and stand out in the crowd.

any other help PM me

Wecome !!

This might be the first member here to switch from the G35 to the CLS

Usually we see people go the other way (from the CLS to the G), but since this is a great forum, they stick around anyways

This guy never had a G.

Here's the first person on this board to go from a G to a CL:

Oops.

I read "could have gotten a GREAT deal " as he actually owned one.

I've got to concentrate on the forum instead of letting work distract me

Exhaust Pic

I could have a G... but for half the price I bought this CL-S... it was a good move I think.

Anyways - here is the exhaust pic. I'm going to put the stock pipes back on - and no flaming, I like the way the thermal looks and sounds but enjoy the engine sounds more than the exhaust on this particular motor...

Pipes will be for sale soon, if anyone is interested, let me know! Otherwise, they'll be on eBay.

Is it bad form to put something for sale on this board?

The poor guy that traded it in just put brand new Michelin Pilot's on the car for me too - wasn't that nice?

Good choice, can't blame you. The G35 coupe just isn't as refined. I drove an automatic G early on, and the 6 speed G a few weeks ago. It's ok if it were under $20k, nowhere near worth what they are asking for it IMO. Felt too small, cheaper materials, small trunk, not as classy as the CL.
Black looks great on the CL too. good luck.

Another pic

G35 is nice... very nice even. But no memory seats, no tilt down mirrors - just things I was shocked to find the CL-S had, and as a 2001 no less!!

I was so impressed by the CL-S the guy traded in I just snatched it up... he bought a Copper FX35 for his wife...

Another exhaust pic...

This shot doesn't do the pipes justice... the Thermal tips are beveled and the glare from the lens and plate washed it out...

This shot is better...

The really amusing part is that this CL-S really beat all the other cars I was looking at. I have sitting in my garage right now a 2001 Lexus IS300 that is going back to Lexus Financial in 30 days (over in lease miles)... and EVERYONE around Columbus has a 3-series...

I was bummed cause I like having something a little different. This black CL-S was just what I was looking for.

Now if I can get that turd of an IS300 out of my garage so the CL has a nice place to sleep. With my luck I'd park the Lexus outside and some ass would key it the day before I took it back...

The Audi A4 looks 'ok' - but nothing really impressive. The RX8 was disappointing when I drove it (love the guages.). The new TL doesn't do it for me for whatever reason.

The only real car coming out that I had serious interest in was the new 6 from BMW. But damn if I'm spending that kind of cheese. Business is good, but not THAT good.

Very pleased with this CL-S

Things I'm dying to do,like... now:

The car needs more bass. Considering Infinity Basslink.
Want my fogs to be yellow - hope to find cheap bulbs.
03 tail lights
springs - comptech
clear bra
aluminum door sills
MAYBE install my iPod
Stock Exhaust back on, or new 03 exhaust
tint

Yea, for some reason my IS300 yellow fogs mixed with the 6000K HIDs are just hot to me... I like the look alot, and I don't have to try and match the fogs to the real HIDs...

Thanks for the PrtNmbr on the PIAAs - that's what I need.

Now if I can only find some LED replacements for the other bulbs in the car : plate lights | dome lights | turn signals

I have an LED sickness.
