Going in for recal...some questions

So I get the letter for the recal recently...problem is I get the letter at my parents home in california, and I'm 1200 miles north in washington. Will the local dealerships give me any shit about getting the warranty work done? They should be able to research it through the vin number right?

Why don't you just get it faxed?

I got recall done 2 weeks ago and I haven't even received the letter yet!
Call the daeler--give them your VIN #--Verify the recall---then set up an appointment. Tell them your parents ahve the letter and see what they say. The fact you don't have possession of the letter should not be a problem IMHO.

If your dealership is any good you won't have to bother with any of that.

They should have it in their computer if you got it done yet or not. I never even received the letter and I scheduled an appointment and had it done.

Give your dealer a call first.

EDIT - Just what louisn said.

It's a general recall, and obviously you own the car so I don't see a reason you need the 'letter' to get the recall work done. I wouldn't worry about it, I called my dealer up and said "I have a CL-S and want to schedule the recall work," lady knew exactly what I was talking about.

I tried to do mine and called the dealership and they said to wait til I get the letter.

A couple of weeks later my tranny died and I had to wait 10 days to get the car back witha rebuilt tranny. A day after it was rebuilt I received the recall letter, how ironic.

Like CleanCL said, I too scheduled an appt. w/out receiving a letter a month ago and they performed the recall oil kit w/no hesitation. By now, I would hope that all dealerships know what's up.

Who cares about a letter? It's the car that is getting the recall no matter who owns it or drives it. If it comes into an Acura dealer service, they must perform the recall according to the VIN number or at least let you know about it to come back later to get it done.

I got the recall done today actually. Just walked in, told them I had an appointment, and they did it. I got the letter last week but the dealership never asked me to bring it/fax it or anything like that.
