getting a sundance gold 01 CLS :o)
At first I wanted a 00 BMW 323 then a 02 Maxima and then ....
I've just made a deal for soon to be mine 01 Sundance Gold CLS, the car is in excellent condition and I think I am going to be very happy. I really love the color though! It's so unique.I actually drove in my buddy's 01 CLS to go see it too :o) And I loved how the car drove and handled. The owner said he never encountered any tranny problems during ownership. It has 119,000 km (or 75k miles) and I still got 40k warranty if anything. Would it make any sense to put a comptech tranny cooler on it at this point? Also I wanted to know what is the color temp of the stock HID bulbs in those cars? 4000, 5000, 6000k?
The guy just recently done rotors and pads, so I guess that takes care of the rotor problem.
Anyway... I just wanted to know what I should expect of this car? any other problems besides breaks and tranny? I am asking because so far I've only been disappointed with my cars breaking down on me all the time (vw, audi).

The tranny is the major issue, everything else is fine. Some people are having issues with warped rotors and such but ive yet to expierince that. Nice color, Good car, great choice. Enjoy the ride man.
Your CL got Navi or what ? Post some pics up when you get a chance.

I'm assuming you're in Canada if you're quoting in kilometers. Congrats on the car. I picked up an 01 Sundance Gold last year in Toronto. I also had the tranny cooler work done at no cost and have had no problems before or after. I do notice I'm starting to get some pulsing on the brakes coming off the 401. Will need to address that in the summer some time. Other than that, I love it.
If you're in the GTA and in the east end or on the DVP and you see another 01 Gold CLS - it may be me.
See ya.

yes I am in Toronto,Canada. Just met up with the owner and gave him the deposit. Next week tuesday or wednesday I think I'll be driving it already. Can't wait.
I'll get the tranny cooler installed if it's no charge. I think it wouldn't hurt. What kind of tranny fluid should I use? something that will run cooler than regular stuff the stealership puts in?

so any D2R HID bulb will fit ?
does it have to be somehow compatible with the ballast?
I remeber I read somewhere that sometimes it's not a good idea to mix and match those two, because it may shorten the life of the bulb or the ballast. Is that true?

Welcome to the gold-club man. your gonna love it. I get compliments everyday w/ my car. People are always asking me how much a custom paint job like that costs. Sometimes i mess w/ them too....I tell them it's a custom made color that I invented or some shit. again...congrats

hehehe, that's funny
I didn't expect to get one in this color in the first place, I wasn't looking for one or anything although I liked the color (my nickname in russian means "red haired", although I'm not) . But thursday morning (when new ads come out in our www.trader.ca) I was tired of looking overall, opened up the website and BAM there it is, I went to see it that evening and made the guy an offer ended up lowering the price from 16800 CDN to 15000. which is not bad I guess (that's like $12200 US) is that a good price? (no navi)

I got it and been driving it for last 3 days, absolutely love it, I hope it will be good to me UNlike my audi. The parts seem to have more or less decent pricing. Still got 40,000kms to break the tranny :o)
These cars are more or less rare in Toronto. I hardly see them on the street unlike civics, maximas, bmws and the rest. Plus the color gives it a very distinctive look.
Just tested it out on a higway yesterday... it picks up speed quite nicely, love the power.
I'm not into heavy modding, it has plenty of power for me. All I am going to do is get a tint, put a single 10" sub (with an amp of course) in the trunk, get some performance rubber and maybe H&R springs and Tokico Illumina shocks later on.
