I think it would be more fitting for her to have a nice park with a huge monument than what she got.
pps: I got gas last night at 1 am on 83rd and thunderbird and had to wait about 25 minutes for 87 octane at $2.10
A couple of other gas stations had gas but wouldn't sell it until 6 am

AK_MOBBER, insulting the memory of Piestewa doesn't help anything - I am appreciative to all our service men and women for doing what they do, including Lori Piestewa.
Beetroot, I don't think that any other governor would have been able to prevent what the gas companies appear to be doing to us citizens in the time that she's had in office. Just a thought.

Platy - I don't think any governor would have been able to prevent anything either. I still think Napolitano is miserable however. And while she may not have been able to prevent it, it still pissed me off that she was covering for Kinder Morgan and passing the blame in her press conference yesterday. Kinder Morgan is one of her large campaign contributors...
Also, according to federal inspectors they cleared the pipeline to run 80% capacity over two weeks ago, but Kinder Morgan has had it shut down since the initial break. Seems a little shady to me.

I don't like Napolitano either...but gotta get by even if she's in office...sucky thing, huh?
joedokes...where'd you get premium? I filled up with 87 octane yesterday at fricken Arcos on Ray/Rural for 1.89....when I put my car in gear, it hesitates and feels like it doesn't want to move, but then kicks in and everything seems fine. My tank is probably 3/4 87 octane and 1/4 91 octane. Oh well, should be okay for now...once it runs out, hopefully I'll find some premium.
I think the pipeline is fixed, but need to run tests and stuff on it to make sure it doesn't pop again. That may take a couple weeks. Some coworker of mine said they saw something in the paper or heard on the news that this could last up to 60 days! Hopefully it doesn't...if it doesn't rain, I'll just bike around (pray I don't get hit by a car).

This kind of blows some holes in their policies though. Not much sense drilling in ANWAR when we basically own Iraq. And last Friday, GWB offered up two Residential resolutions.
1: Any Iraqi oil imported into the US. US oil companies CAN NOT be sued if they pollute the land or waterways in the US.
2: We will take any and all Iraqi oil and sell it on the open market to recover money owed to Haliburton (former CEO: Dick Cheny), which now amounts to some $651,000,000 until the bill is paid off. By the way, that $651M was ill gained. Companies were to bid on the contract to rebuild Iraq, but once again, Dick and his buddies pulled a fast one, which we will pay for in high energy prices.
Naw, I don't think the Resident or the Vice Resident are making one thin dime off of this stuff. By the way, last year for the gas grill, 20# of propane was $8.53. Today I paid $16.14. My $44 every two months (I am on a budget billing plan) has gone to $86 for gas for the condo.
The oil companies restrict supply in order to keep prices high. In fact, the supply is kept at about 95-98% of demand. That way they can control the prices.
And if you think that this is bad, I am predicting that we will see electricity rise by about 25-33% in the next year at the consumer level. Just as soon as the Oval office figures how to pull the wool over the publics eyes. Of $20,000,000 contributed by energy companies to political campaigns in the 2000 elections, two thirds of this went to the Republicans (source: Rush Limbaugh.)
My Dad had one job in his entire life. He worked for Com Ed (now Excelon) in Illinois for 51 years straight. He built large scale power lines and distribution grids. And yes, these things have to be maintained. But it is mostly in the controls, software, switches, transformers and the physical structures that hold the wires. Figure that if the government says that they need $50,000,000,000 to straighten out this mess, that $5,000,000,000 is really needed and the rest will be profit in the form of graft.
I am oversimplifing the problem here, but when was the last time you had to maintain a WIRE in your car?
If anybody here can't figure out why energy prices are high, I can draw you a picture.

87 in my car makes it feel a bit sluggish. First few take-offs in 1st gear were hesitant, but it's better now. Still sluggish though. Since lines have died down, I'll start diluting the 87 with 91.

Just went over 2 bucks per for 92 Chevron here. Taking advantage of the end of summer travelers IMO. Oh well, good thing these things don't run on lattes or mayo.

I filled up the car on the way home from work Friday and it cost 1.73 a gallon for Mobil SUPER.
So this morning I run out to fill up the 3-gallon container for the lawnmower and it’s now 1.85 for super.
This is the SAME STATION that was 1.73 just 12-hours earlier.
12-cent increase in one day.

I filled my inexpensive version of the CL (Solara V6 manual) at McClellan's pumps on the 16th....1.799 (now it's over $2)...V6 now resting quietly in garage while a small diesel pickup (last fill-up $1.599) - my second vehicle: a truly ratty looking little trucklet - is carrying the ball. Most of you dudes would not beleive the fuel economy of a little diesel during these dorked up times.............ez

This is really getting to be disturbing! I am not suprised about the prices, as I expected Bush and Cheny to let their oil friends run amouk for the profit of the oil companies, but I think this will eventually backfire on them.
Gasoline is getting so expensive that most people will limit their car usage to the bare essentials. Groserys, fill the car up, drop the kids off at school, and go to work.
No trips to go see uncle Ed, and no motoring vacations by car. Just the essential stuff. I guess our leaders in Washington think that, so far, 3,000,000 people out of work is a tolerable condition.
