Gas
Gas
Did anyone here run empty on their tank? I know our tank is over 17 Gal. My light was up like 60s miles ago. But this morning, I was hurry for an appt and did not pump gas before I go. The car had a hard start. On the way back to the gas station, (freeway) I felt a sense of car dying, but when I pushed a little hard, it went again and hit 4500 rev. Finnaly, when I filled up, the pump said, 16.5 gal. So if 17 up is true, I should still have some left
? I wonder anyone here tested how big the tank actuall is.

Why my car has at least half gal in, alreday start to shaky or hard start. Is the fuel line entry not in the lowest point of tank? So when gound is not even, gas cannt reach to fuel line? mmm, if so that's design problem. I thought the fuel line entry should design like funnel shape that can gather any fuel left in the tank.
The fuel pickup does not go all the way to the bottom of the tank ,so invariably a small quantity of fuel remains in the bottom of the tank although this is not as much as you might think. As you drive with a very low fuel level the fuel will slosh around in the bottom of the tank intermittently leaving the pickup high and dry causing the car to stumble as it loses fuel pressure .If you park the car with virtually nothing in the tank it is typical for these cars to have an extended crank because the fuel pump will drain overnite .Before the pump can send fuel to the engine it must first prime itself .You can avoid a lenghty crank by simply cycling the key to the run position 2 or 3 times .This will prime the pump and the car should start normally .Please note there is nothing we can do about the fuel tank and the the small amount of fuel that remains at the bottom of the tank the fuel pump cannot get to.Jens
