I was running 14.3s and 14.4s w/my gtech and went to the track and ran 14.3s and 14.4s so I'd say it's accurate. The trap speed is high on the gtech because it calculates it differently than at the track.

from what i understand its accurate to a certain degree, if you make a run and the gtech says 15.00 and go to the track and get 15.6, then mod your car and get a gtech run of 14.00 then your new track time should be 14.6

GTECH is a 0..60, 1/4 mile, measuring device.
It can be used and misused. It is very sensitive to how it is setup. I've seen people get very accurate measurements from it to the track, and other people send it away.
I don't know if there are productions problems, but someone else here will even tell you they tried 3 or 4 units an they were all off. I have a response for that -- have you seen the variations in 1/4 mile times by some of the good drivers here and out there.
The unit has some play in the mount, and if the car "squats" (they all do to some degree), it alters the accelerometer's reading. The unit uses acceleration and time to compute all of the info it needs for the "measured" results.
If they had of put in a "differential" system to null-out squat, bumps, that gets integrated into the reading, it would be more accurate for more people.
However, I've found the unit to be very useful.
It is a tool -- it can be used or misused (just like a dyno).

well, the more i use it the more i like it. have learned better launch tecniques. i started from a dismal 7.67 and have now gotten an excellent 6.36 last nite. i have STOPPED using sport shift and taking off the vsa. i get a tiny amount of spin and better traction. i did not have enough room for 1/4's, but i figure that low down is more important if i am not shifting anyway.
i do power brake and rev till 2000.
i guess the best part of the g tech for me was it was a gift. hehe

I recently got a new "improved" version of the G-Tech. 1/4m.time averaged 14.5sec. I advocate this accelometer because it can really help with the tuning of a vehicle. To max tune for most hp.on a dyno is one thing but the real world drives on the road and that is where G-Tech comes in handy. I work with very complex sensitive electronics and sometimes they give erroneous figures,so turn it off and try again. You will see a pattern and then know that is correct time!
