Future value of 6 speed?
Future value of 6 speed?
Not sure if you can lump all cars together; however, I was wondering what you guys think will happen to the value of the CL now that it is being discontinued. Does it help value or hurt it or does it not matter. I know I am not sitting on a gold mine here but I was thinking the value might be a little higher. I know the car has not kept it's value well at least until now.
Thanks in advance.

Let me gaze into my crystal ball.
I say the 6-Speed won’t be in as much demand as the old Legend manuals, but the value will hold MUCH better then the slush box.
The stigma of the quality issues will hurt, but the limited run of 2,700 will help.
I bet 3-4 years from now a 6-Speed will command about a grand more then an equally equipped and similar mileage Auto.
That is if you can find a buyer for the Auto AT ALL !!!

If you can find a buyer who is looking specificly for a CLS 6spd, then the 6spd will definitely be worth more then the auto. Supply and demand will also help resale values, as there weren't that many CLS 6spds made.
I'm one of those buyers. I would not have bought a CLS if the 6spd wasn't offered. I wanted a Honda/Acura product, but I wanted a manual tranny (and at least a V6 engine). The 7th gen Accord doesn't do it for me, so if the CLS only came in auto, I'd be driving a G35c, 350Z or BMW.

Well, it's a matter of supply vs demand. The Legend held its value so well because it went out on top. When they replaced the Legend, there were very very few manuals (and those were hard to come by). The problem with the CL is, there are plenty to go around and very few people that want them. It doesn't matter if there are only 2700 (or whatever) if only 2000 people want one. Short supply doesn't mean squat if there isn't a demand, and low sales proves there isn't a demand.
That sounds true, I drove Legends before this. You're right, CL demand is not that great, but I know many Acura Legend and CL drivers who didn't even know the 6 speed was offered in the CL!
I think once the G1 CL came out many never looked at the CL again. The 01-02 CL not having a stick also didn't cater to stick buyers.
But all it takes is one person in your town wanting to buy a 6 speed CL and you have very little if any competition after this summer. You can't say that for very many other mass produced cars.
But reputation and popularity is also important and the CL has very little compared to the Z, or some German cars. Maybe as a used car and cheaper the CLS 6speed will have more interest?

Only reason I'm not in a G35C right now is because the local infin dealer only had it in auto. I went into acura to look for a TL and saw my 6spd. I didn't realize they came in 6 spd and that they even existed?? Marketing for these cars wasn't the best imo.
