Ah, the 20% tint gets another person. 20% looks great but I am glad that I didn't get anything lower than 35% on the sides. I have been pulled over twice now and there has been no mention of the tint.

Sorry to hear about that...at least you won't have to take the tint off!

You know, you don't have to go through all these troubles. All you have to do is prove to the judge that you don't the tints on anymore. So, all you do is a take a picture of a CL that has the same color as yours, but no tints. When you show the picture to the judge, he will dismiss your ticket. Beleive me, all my friends just do that. Much less hassle.

Boy, that's playing with fire. Although the odds are probably with you not getting caught, Perjury and using false evidence (possible felonies)may result. Just wanted the original poster to be aware of the downside!

Hey Nicky...that's jus how it is man. When cops are bored and have nothing to do, they'll give you tickets to kill time. I remember 2 occasions when I was still livin in Chgo and both of these times I was parked. This cop is on foot/meter patrol under Michigan Ave. Meter was cool and when I came back, ticket on my windsheild for no front plate! Another occasion I was at LSD parked jus chillin and this sonofabitch pulls up next to me and starts hassling me like what are you doing here and you're not supposed to have tint. He gave me a ticket. What an asshole.

are you guys forgetting why these cops are giving you tickets for too dark of a tint up front? It's for their safety...not because they want to hassle you.

Put yourself in their shoes...imagine walking up to a driver that may be armed...there is absolutely no way of seeing what they are doing until the cop is literally standing right next to the window.

the front license plate...well...that's just so they can clock you w/ laser.

Tint or no tint...that's part of a cops job, to put his life in danger. He could be walking down the street and some crackhead can blo his head off. My situation I was being hassled. I was sittin there reading my paper and eating my breakfast. Anyone a cop pulls over can have a concealed weapon. Yes, some tint would hinder the situation but that's jus something they gotta live with.

seriously someone could just as easily surprise a cop with a weapon without tint on the fronts as they could with tint on the fronts its the backs that they should be worried about, and if that was the case why not just make a law to roll down your windows when you get pulled over? or tell you to get out of the car on their loudspeaker before they approach the car if they are worried. tint laws are bs they just want to be able to profile you j/k

Nicky tints have been illegal in Illinois for a long time. I don't see why your complaining about it. Front plates have also been required for a long time now.

And you live in AH, which is king for giving out "make the city money" tickets. Same with Palatine/Schaumburg.

Your begging for trouble if you drive around like that. Not to mention the parking on the street past 3am ticket AH gives out.

Nicky, how comfortable do you feel about lying to the cops? I mean, say you can get a notice saying everything has taken care of, and you get off the hook. But what about the next time? Do the police keep a record of these "fix it" tickets, and make note that you provided proof that everything has been resolved? What would happen if you got pulled over again with the same violations? Same result? Would the hcekc previous "fix it" violations?

I dunno... Playing with the law, is like playing with fire. But that's just me.

2 questions...

Does the "doctors" note work everywhere? So I have 20% and limit is 35% for example.

If a car is legally tinted in its home state, but travels to another state, can the other state give a ticket if it does not meet that state's limit?

You are lucky that you are not in Portland, OR. We have Zero tolerate laws and police in the field are given the discretion to impound your vehicle if they chose. The judges most often will convict. Which means high fines, points on your MVR, your vehicle towed by Joe (I have no liability so I can fuck up your ride as I drag it away) police tow guy, and big time money to get your vehicle out of impound. It's just not worth the hassel.

The operative word here is "live with". If you don't like it why don't you run for office and get the law changed. Personally I'm kinda tired about the kids on this board crying about having to follow the rules/laws. YMMV

Who's crying....? If its illegal to have tint on the car there shouldn't be places that tint car windows. Drugs are illegal....its illegal to sell them....its the same principal. BOTTOM LINE: the cop probably need to write a few tickets....OH WELL!

Break the law, pay the price. All the speeding tickets, illegal tint, removed front plat, etc.

Don't complain cause you broke the law. Move elsewhere if you don't like the laws in your state....

Me? Run for office? Yea sure right now. Why do some people go the "age"route when they don't agree with other people then they say oh these fukin kids or this kid and that kid??? Yea laws are laws, pay the price...agreed. Don't start w/ this age shit. I'm 26, far from being a kid. It's the principle of it. Nobody likes to get tickets or busted for stupid shit like tints. Nicky was just pissed off so let him vent.
