Fuel additives

I have a 01 CLS and was wanderin what you guys think bout adding fuel injecter cleaner, octane booster, oil treatment ect. Do you need to do this to a acura engine??Bout to hit the 100k mile marker here soon, and was wanderin if that could be a nice treat for the engine. Also when do i need to change spark plugs. Any input appreciated.

As long as the car was well maintained, I don't see a need for any additives.

As for the plugs, 105K

Be careful with oil additives. A engine with 100K will likely have some scaring on the bearings. That scaring is likely filled in with thick film of dirty oil and junk. You don't want to clean it out. If it gets cleand out it can cause more problems. It can do the same thing for your engine seals, if it cleans them out it may cause a leak.

I try to use quality fuel like Cheveron w/ techron as often as possible. Since I moved I can not ge it anymore. So I use the Shell w/ nitrogen, which is controversal, and seems to be the best for this area. But I know it is better than that shit Citgo sells.

I did Sea Foam last year through a vacum line and it did make a diff in the way it ran, much smooter.

I never add anything to the oil.

To fuel additives, I say, "nay".

To seafoam, I say, "yay" (if you change out your spark plugs afterwards).

The only octane booster I found that make a noticable diff is the NOS race formula. It is the one in the black can/box. It did make the car run better. 99% of the time fuel at the pump does not hold its octane. If it says 93 oct then it will likely test out to 90 to 91. I only do it every once in a while. When I feal like driving hard.

The CLS needs super unleaded fuel due to 10.5 to 1 comp. Running a little higher octane will just healp it run better. Or to its full potential I should say. If you run less than the needed octane then yoour engine is pulling back on the timing, thus your loosing power.

Techron or Toyota EFI Cleaner for fuel additives. Toyota EFI Cleaner comes in a STEEL can, as the stuff will eat through plastic bottles.

Don't know about where you live but in Minnesota and other states in the midwest they require a government body to test stations pumps and gas quality every 6 months or less to verify that what they're selling as a gallon or as 93 octane is in fact correct. You buy 93 and you get 93.

I don't really have time to read 125 pages but, did the guy say if he was serious about the NOS?

why have none of you mention Z-max... I have not touched fuel additives since my acquisition of the CL... but... it worked wonders on my Ford Probe and my brothers Prelude...

It's 3 part... one trans, one engine and one fuel...

Now the trans one actually makes the tranny SHIFT SMOOTH... I SHIT YOU NOT

the fuel one WHO KNOWS...

and the engine one basically makes everything inside there run as good as possible... It cut down my bro's oil burning FURRY by 50%..

So my question is... WHAT do you guys think about z max for our cls?

Those little stickers on the fuel pumps are yearly not bi-yearly and they are for Weights and Messurments. So when you buy a gallon you get a gallon. Fuel looses it potency from sitting in a tank. Super unleaded is used far less than regular. Super will degrade over time as it sits longer. I PROMISE you if you went and bought a gallon of your favorite super unleaded and had it tested it WOULD NOT test out to 93 oct.

And if your buying fuel from a small locally owend store it is going to be even worse. I've seen it myself where the ass hole store owner was topping of his tanks with water. I only buy from the larger gas stations. Non of these BS corners stores.

Yeah this DIY was really easy to follow. I did it and really noticed a difference. I mean its not gonna give you new engine or add horsepower, but the car runs smoother, idles nicer and just feels better. Really pay attention to your car while you warm up the engine (first part of DIY) and then pay attention after you run it through the vacuum line. Here is the write-up:

Im just saying. Will it be enough to notice a diff in power? Maybe not. But I do notice a diff when I use (Seldemly) the NOS race formula. So I know the car likes the higher octane.

No prob man. Took me a while to find it. The first time I just poured the whole thing in my gas tank like the bottle said. I was disappointed cause of how everyone talked about the difference. I didn't feel shit! But when i found that I was def happy. Good luck
