Front Plates

After my accident the front bumper is going to have to be replaced. I don't want the body shop drilling the holes in the bumper like some dealers have done before. What do the Acura specs call for? They say that they will return it to factory specs. Anyone know how they normally attatch the plates?

DONT WORRY, there are no notacible screws on the front. The way the plates are attatched in under the bumper. so dont worry. (or at least thats how mine were, no holes at all)

If you live in NJ they WILL drill your front bumper...

Go to the body shop and BEG them not too.

My TL wasnt drilled before or after my accident... but it was a NY car.

My CL-S is from a dealer in Jersey... and I received it with too gaping holes in the bumper!

the screws through the front is a dealer thing. tell whoever is doing your bumper that you will shoot them if they put extra screws through the front.

When I got my car from dealer - they've placed the front plate without drilling any wholes in the bumper.
They assembeled it underneath. Easy to take it off and to put it on if a Cop gets too picky about it.

I just called them and they said that they would wait for me to tell them what to do but I have to get something that explains to them how to mount the plates. I will go to a dealer on Sat and see what I can come up with. Good news too, they'll let me keep the scratched rim and replace it as well. Now I have a full size spare! Thanks for the help.

Don't even bother to put it on, bro. I didn't put it on mine and never did on my previous cars. I never got any ticket for that. I guess the cops in this Silicon Valley are not as uptight as the east coast. Don't be so scared about every little thing and don't be so model citizen. What if you get caught? Are they going to arrest you or shoot you? If I get caught, I'll pay the stinking ticket and still won't put it on. I think this whole front panel thing is another example of our uncle Sam trying to control everything and excuse to pull us over. At least they could make it smaller or better looking, like the European plate.
